Last night I found myself staying awake, due to my insomnia kicking in yet again. Instead of attempting to sleep, I watched The Perks of Being a Wallflower. One line stuck out to me.

'Why do people choose the wrong people to love?'

'They go for the love they think they deserve.'

School the next day felt unusual. Darcy decided to actually catch the bus, but it was like she had scared everyone off. The boys weren't on the bus today, it felt weird not hearing their voices shouting to one another in the back.

"Where's Jake?" I asked Darcy, she would know if anyone would.

She turned around and looked at me. "He's got his theory test, so he won't be in for the first hour or so."

"Where's the rest of the boys though?" I asked. I missed hearing Charlie's voice and laughter from the back of the bus, and the boys smiling and laughing with him. Darcy just shrugged her shoulders at me.
I could tell she hated being on the bus, she wasn't saying much and actually looked quite ill in the face.

I sipped my hot chocolate from the straw and took a nibble from my triple chocolate cookie which Reece had kindly given me, because apparently he couldn't eat another one. He sat next to me, intently watching as I sipped my hot chocolate.

"I've never seen anyone drink a hot chocolate through a straw." Reece chuckled, and I forced a smile. That smile was soon wiped away as I saw Charlie approach the table with Rosie, his arm around her, gazing into her eyes as she spoke to him.

'I don't like Charlie.' I kept thinking to myself. That's what Rosie said last night, but it doesn't seem like that.

"Hey guys mind if Rosie joins us today?" Charlie asked, but no-one replied, they all groaned instead. Reece seemed really hacked off with Charlie's sudden movement. As none of the boys replied, Charlie pushed Rosie down on a chair, and our eyes connected as she smiled at me, falsely I do not know.

The subject immediately turned to prom, and who was asking who, but I remained quite, taking the final nibble out of my cookie. I listened to every ones conversation about prom, but it didn't intrigue me one bit. Either I was going to prom or I wasn't, depending if I was asked or not.

"I watched this TV show, and this guy did a promposal where he asked this girl he liked, but instead of just popping the question, he got a police car to collect her! Even worse though, his friends were all lined up on the road holding massive pieces of cards with one word on. It read in the end something like 'Will you go to prom with me?' Thankfully she said yes. I would've been terrifyed if it was me, but she managed to cope well with it." Rosie rambled on, everyone on the table began laughing at her statement, all except Reece. Why did he hate her so much?

"Who would even do that?" Darcy giggled. Jake's arm wound around her body as she was cuddled up tight next to him.

"I'd hate it if someone asked me to prom like that." Rosie laughed.

"Crap. I'll have to find another way to ask you then." Charlie teased, as he placed his arm over Rosie's shoulders.

There was an awkward silence, as everyone's eyes fell to their lap. I could feel my heart breaking, and if I didn't make a move soon, tears would fall from my eyes, causing a huge scene, and questions to be asked.

"I need to go to revision class. Sorry guys, I'll catch up tomorrow." I smiled, exiting the table.

"Oh yeah, Maths right? I'm coming." Reece smiled, as he collected his belongings and walked with me out of the canteen.

"You do realise that revision class isn't on?" I asked once we were outside and in the long and empty corridor. Reece nodded, laughing.

"I'm not that dumb Autumn. I know more than you think." He smiled, looking down at the ground. "I know that you like Charlie. The reason you left is because of his feelings towards Rosie. Rosie doesn't even like Charlie, so there's no need to be upset about it." Reece spoke, leaning against the cream wall.

I remained silent. He actually did know. I don't even know how. I've tried to keep my crush on Charlie on the low, attempting not to make it obvious to anyone. So how on earth did Reece know? Darcy didn't know, and she's always with me. She's my best friend and knows me better than anyone else, so if I did have a crush on someone, she would soon know. Reece had only known me for less than a week, so how on earth did he suspect this?
