Prom is going to be happy

It was the eve of prom, and at school recently, that's what almost everybody was talking about. They were all so hyped for it, including me. I honestly could not wait, it had only just sunk in. My dress was hung on the back of my door, and it was honestly perfect, tomorrow was going to be perfect. This is suppose to be one of the best days of my life, the day which every girl counts up to in her school years. Mum had previously told me how she didn't go, seeing as she had no-one to go with, and how she regrets it now. I was't in that dilemma, I had Reece, and I was happy to be going with him.

To celebrate prom eve, Reece had decided to treat me to a meal out. I wasn't sure why, but it was sweet of him to think of me. He was so kind towards me, and I honestly didn't deserve any of it. I just wish he'd understand that I don't need to be treated like this, I don't deserve anything. Just being with him is enough for me.

At seven o clock Reece arrived. I balanced from foot to foot as I gazed at him in the doorway. His hair was unusually gelled up into a quiff, which made a lovely change, seeing as it was almost everyday swept across his forehead, it suited him. He wore a red polo shirt, with a leather hoodie thrown on top, his jeans were skinny, with great tears in the knee. "You look beautiful." He stated, lifting his hand slightly at my outfit. I looked down quickly as I felt the heat rise in my cheeks, I stared at my dress, it was only simply. I wore a black and red dogtooth skater dress, and some deep red dolly shoes. For this occassion, I had attempted to curl my hair. Obviously, being me, it didn't work. My hair just looked a whole lot frizzier, and not a slight bit curly.

"Thank you." I mumbled. "You look great too." I blushed again. "Oh sorry, come in!" I giggled, as I hopped out of the way, allowing Reece inside.

I heard a vicious tapping approaching us in the kitchen. I turned around to be greeted by my haggered looking mum, who growled over at Reece and I. "Who's this?" She scowled, refferring to Reece, who was awkwardly positioned next to me, as he balanced on the heels of his feet, his hands shoved into the pockets of his jeans.

"Oh, I'm Reece." He claimed, as he smiled briethly over at my mum. She smarmly smiled at him, but only quickly.

"Another friend of Autumn's then?" She asked, her hand falling against her hip.

"Uh yeah...boyfriend." He added, coughing slightly as his head dropped towards the floor.

"Okay cool, have fun tonight. Back my eleven at the latest please Autumn." She smiled, as she returned back to her office. I stood there, in complete shock. Never has she been that nice to any friend of mine, to be completely honest, I thought she was going to lash out at Reece, and kick him out, banning him from seeing me.

"Oh." Is all I managed to say after mum had swiftly exited the room.

"Why are you so shocked at the outcome?" Reece asked, as our hands linked together. I looked down at our hands, and back up to Reece, his eyes were almost blue in this light, holding sorrow but yet curiousity.

"She's...she's never exactly been nice to any of my friends." I spoke in a hushed tone, just in case mum was lurking around the corner, and waiting to eat us both.
