in the operating room
"Can you guys get the police on the phone and get a social worker over here please." The doctor asked one of the nurses as he was closing up. "Yeah what should I say to them?""Call then and tell them I think we found the little girl that went missing 11 years ago." All of the nurses looked wide eyed at the doctor.
"Janet and Toni's daughter that went missing?" The doctor nodded his head. "Yes please and hurry I want them here before she wakes up." The nurse left out of the room and the other nurses started getting ready to clean up the room. Forty minutes later the police and social worker was at the hospital.
"Why do you believe this is their daughter?" The detective asked. "Well they are the same age, they have the same birthday, and a year after she was kidnapped they made sure they always did an age progression photo and its sent out to all the hospitals in the state and she looks just like the picture."
"Okay well we will get in contact with them and hopefully by the time she wakes up they will be here to do a DNA test." The doctor nodded and went to the nurses station.
"Guys I know you guys have a lot of patients to monitor but the patient in room 346 is very important keep a close eye on her." The nurses all said okay and the doctor left.
In Justice's room she was finally waking up. "Where's my momma?" Justice asked weakly. "Hey Justice do you know where you are or remember what happened?" Justice ignored the question and asked her own.
"Where is my mother?"
"I'm Lauren I'm a social worker and I have some good and bad news for you. Do you want the good or bad first."
"I want my mother first."
"I'm sorry sweetie but you guys were in an accident and only four out of five of you survived."
"What does this have to do with you telling me where my mother is?" Before Lauren could answer the Police came in the room. "Lauren we got in contact with them and they should be here within the next hour."
"Fuck whosever on there way! Where is my mother?!" Justice yelled as she tried to sit up but she grabbed her head in pain and had to lay back down.
"Calm down, as I was saying before you and your mother were in a car crash only four of you survived and unfortunately your mom was the one that died." Lauren said and the room became silent the only thing that was heard were the machines in the room.
"Janet... Toni wake up!" Me and Toni were sleeping when I heard Towanda come in the room. I refused to make any sudden movements because I didn't want to wake up. I had just laid down about a hour ago because today was a rough day and I'll just leave it at that. Toni had been sleep for awhile so she probably wouldn't mind getting up.
"Y'all come on get up I have something important to say!" Toni shifted in the bed and pulled me closer to her by my waist and she whispered in my ear. "If we're still she will go away." I didn't say anything but Towanda did.
"You know I can hear you right?" There was silence before I heard Towanda take her slippers off. "Wanda! Climb in this damn bed and I'll beat your ass myself!"
"Well then get up! It's about Justice." I don't know about Toni but my eyes shot open and I definitely stopped breathing for a minute. "Wait what?!" Toni let go of me and sat up.
"The police called from the hospital and said that they think she's there but we have to go so you guys can get a DNA test before we get her feelings involved. With that being said get up and wash your face brush your teeth and let's go." She slapped Toni's side and left out of the room. Toni jumped up and ran into the bathroom to get ready.
"Did she say Justice?" I asked Toni and she walked out of the bathroom washing her face. "Yeah baby come on get up let's go."
"Do you know how many nights and days we cried because we couldn't find our daughter? Do you know how many people I cussed out because of their disrespect on live television?"
"Baby we ALL know how many people you cussed out on LIVE television, and it's too many nights to keep track of."
"3,783 nights we've both cried whether you hid and thought I didn't know or not I knew. I just don't want to get my hopes up if it's not her and then I'll be crying for a lifetime of nights." Toni sat on the bed and hugged me, I thought I would cry but there's just no more tears left to cry.
"Maybe there won't be a need to cry for a lifetime but we'll never know until we go see."
back at the hospital
The doctor walked into the room and saw that Justice was sleep so he pulled the social worker out into the hallway."So they are here and it's a match they are her parents and that is their daughter. They have been asking to see her for almost a hour but that's totally up to you."
"She hasn't spoken since we told her that her mother died. She ended up falling asleep watching some movie on the tv. I really don't want them to talk to her until she wakes up in the morning, but they can see her." The doctor nodded and took the social worker to the room Janet and Toni were in.
"This is Lauren the social worker on your daughters case and she has decided to let you see your daughter."
"What do you mean let us? She's our daughter." Toni asked. "That doesn't remember you or has been with you in eleven years, she is my responsibility until further notice." Toni scoffed and Janet walked over to hug her.
"Can we just see her please today well yesterday was a very hard day." Janet asked softly. "Yes you can see her but she's sleep and I don't want you guys to speak with her until morning so if she wakes up you guys will have to leave." They nodded their heads and followed behind Lauren.
"Before we go in I want you to know she has a serious concussion, fractured ribs, a broken collarbone, and her right leg is broken. We performed surgery and she woke up so everything went great."
"Wait wait rewind." Janet said as tears streamed down her face. "Justice was in a bad car accident with her mother. The car hit them from the side and the car flipped five times. Everyone survived but her mom she was dead by the time the ambulance came."
"Can you just take us to her please." The doctor opened the door and they walked in. Janet was already crying so when she saw her in the bed she broke down and had to walk out of the room so she wouldn't wake her.
Toni walked over to Justice and kissed her forehead. Justice shifted a little causing Toni to jump back. Toni looked from Justice to Lauren and walked into the bathroom. Janet came back into the room and sat in the chair next to the bed, she wasn't crying anymore she was just admiring Justice.
Janet started singing to Justice and Toni came out shortly after and joined in.
Because the greatest
Love of all is happening to me
I found the greatest
Love of all inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of allAfter they finished singing they kissed her forehead and left out of the room. As soon as they left Justice woke up.
"I've heard those voices before."
