Sheze and I shared a short bath together in my room after he had calmed down. The small bath tub, Sheze's silence, and being wrapped completely around my waist and having my back glued to his body made it increasingly more difficult for me to not feel anxious...

"...I heard that there was a charred body left in your place and that the coroners were unable to tell whether the body truly belonged to you or someone else who took your place," Sheze said with a painful tone in his voice.

The bodies were burnt to the point it was barely recognizable as a human being. It was almost safe to assume that I was the one who lost my life when two charred bodies came up after the grand magic spell. Most people would have assumed that the charred bodies consisted of the Sorcerer and me in a double suicide attempt.

I turned around and looked deep into his eyes. They were dark and sunken in as if he had not slept for several days.

"...Did you think that body belonged to me?" I asked as I placed my hand on his cheek.

"Everyone told me that you were most likely dead from the circumstances, but I had faith that you were still alive...You are the same type as me, too stubborn to die peacefully," Sheze said as he showed me a very vulnerable face and hugged me tightly.

I felt Sheze's trembling body against mine. On my shoulders, I could feel warm droplets falling onto my body. I had a feeling that they were definitely not from the bath water but from Sheze's eyes.

No matter how unshakable this person may seem, he was also human. He was told terrible news, had no way of knowing for sure if I was dead or alive, and was not even allowed to return home to confirm his own wife's corpse. On top of that, he was repeatedly told to think of his newly wed wife as someone of the dead now.

In the end, I ended up making his heart suffer in the worst way possible...

"...Thank you for believing that I was still alive," I said as I wrapped my arms around his body and tears rolled down my face.

Something about apologizing did not seem right in this situation. More than that, I was grateful that this person believed that I was alive despite the numerous circumstances against me.

We both got dressed in our night clothes and hugged each other tightly on the small bed.

"I expect you to still be here when I wake up," Sheze said as he cuddled me in his arms tightly.

"That should be my line," I said with a small chuckle.

Sheze was probably more tired than me from how he immediately went to sleep after I caressed his head for a few minutes.

I wanted to look competent and greet this person with a smile on my face, but it seems that all I do is make him suffer.

Am I even qualified to be loved by this person?

When morning came, I found myself still in Sheze's embrace.

"Good morning," Sheze said as he kissed my forehead, eyes, and cheeks.

"Good morning," I said as I nuzzled my head into the nook of his neck to avoid the gleaming morning sunlight.

"Are you going back to sleep, Lili?" Sheze asked with a chuckle.

I was not much of morning person unlike Sheze who had been trained as a light sleeper since his military days.

I soon felt something soft press against my lips. Something wet and warm slithered into my mouth and began teasing my tongue. I quickly became aware that I was on the receiving side of my husband's passionate kisses.
