After I left the meeting hall, I started seeing the citizens of the Witch country. They had hidden from me at first sight because I was an outsider. Now they decide to show themselves when the Queen herself welcomed me. Rather than feeling welcomed, it was almost as if they were appraising my worth.

I really have stepped into the lions' den...

Later, I was given my own home with basic necessities and a lab for my own experiments and potion making. It consisted of a two story building with a large bed on the second story with stairs that led to the kitchen, dining, and living room. The lab was in a separated house and could be reached with a small walkway that was connected with the house.

For somewhere deep in the forest, there were several surprising amenities such as fresh running water in every house as well as electricity filled through magic items and even modernized toilets in the homes.

I was happy with not having to do my business in a dark hole that leads to only God knows where, but could they not have given me a home any closer further away from Sala?

She was practically neighbor from how her house was right next to mine. Sala was not a very bad person despite having created the bloodlust enhancing potions and aiding Marquis Roswell in starting a war with the Eldera Army.

If she had one fault that I could not forgive, it would have to be her clinginess to me. Our time traveling together made her think of me as an older sister despite our massive age difference, and now she has to bother me constantly like a growth on my arm. Even though she bothers me constantly, I find her to be quite useful when I need information.

"Where is the Blacksmith in town?" I asked Sala.

"I will lead the way!" Sala said excitedly.

We soon arrived at an all-female Blacksmith shop. A burly woman short orange hair and a welding mask was working on some project outside.

"Hey, Yuma!" Sala said to the welder.

"Welcome back, Sala," Yuma said as she removed her welding mask. "You seem to have brought a friend back? Is she the newcomer?"

"I am Nillia. I heard that you are a skilled Blacksmith. It is a bit sudden, but I would like to replace all of the nails and hinges on my doors with longer and sturdier ones," I said.

"Longer nails? What for?" Yuma asked.

"Break-in prevention," I said.

"Break-ins? Come on...No one would try to break into your home or lab here," Sala said.

"I do not trust anyone here...If you think about it, any of the other Witches might be curious as to what I am experimenting on as it may relate to their own research and try to break into my home and steal or destroy my research," I said coldly.

"She is right, Sala...You always made your experiments public. No one has been particularly interested in stealing or ruining your work, but there are some Witches that will go to certain lengths to get on the Council," Yuma said.

"I have some of the same bolts that are in the same size and length that you have requested, but I need a few days to make the hinges. Is that alright with you?" Yuma asked me.

I could soak the new rusty bolts in vinegar, but the old hinges are irredeemable...

"If using certain metals will take a long time, I can just use Alchemy to change the hardness of the material," I suggested.

"You can do Alchemy! That is quite impressive," Yuma said in surprise.

Is it that much of a surprise? Maybe it is best that I keep my cards hidden in this place.
