Chapter Sixty-Three

DiDi hasn't laughed this much in weeks.

Yue looked like she is having the time of her life too. She even snorted more than once at his friends' shenanigans and instead of being turned off, he wanted to pull her close and kiss the life out of her and hear her laugh again right after.

It is a constant struggle between wanting to stay around the bonfire and throw crazier and funnier stories about him and his friends or taking her with him and just attaching her to his side.

His promise to himself, though, that he will allow her to dictate the pace of what goes on between them is what keeps him in check.

"So, Ms. Shen Yue! Are you sure you can still do this?", Xi Zi asked before handing her the shot of tequila.

"Of course!", she responded, full of spirit, "And you are probably more wasted than I am."

"That's because you all ganged up on me!", his best friend responded before handing the next shotglass to Zi Wei.

"What in the world possessed you to try almost everything?", Yi Fan cracked.

This drinking game they invented called "Spit or Swallow" is a raunchier-named version of "Never-Have-I-Ever". They take turns announcing a personal fact and if it is also a fact for another person within the group, they have to "swallow" the alcohol. If not, they spit it towards the bonfire (which builds the fire).

So far, Yue has learned that they all once had a crush on the same girl in junior high school and fought over it. They have all stolen cars from their parents' garage and that Xiao Tian and Kido crashed those that belonged to their fathers when they did it. DiDi, Xi Zi, and Xi Ze have experienced dressing up as girls and competing in a school pageant. They did a sexual position they saw by watching porn, which often ended up badly (except for Xi Ze, it seems). Yi Fan, Kido, and Xi Zi also experienced mistaking "Mary Jane Brownies" as normal brownies and ended up dancing with a group of transvestites in a club. Xi Zi even took the one he was dancing out to his car until he realized what he had done and ended up waking half of Beijing with his scream.

She's also learned that DiDi once received a claim from a girl that he is her son's father and that he once dated a famous actress who he kept calling by another name until Xiao Tian had to tell him about her correct name.

On the other hand, DiDi has learned that she once had a crush on someone double her age and pretended to ask for "tutoring" from the guy – an uncle of one of her classmates. She lost her brother's newly-bought Swatch wristwatch and has not told anyone (except for Dong Xin and them) up until today.

Some of the things they've both done were pretend to receive a phone call from a friend in the middle of a bad date and pretend they needed to leave for a family emergency, steal something from a classmate and replace it with something new, and use their cars for a make-out session.

DiDi initially didn't know how to feel about hearing that she has seen other men before but chastised himself for being stupid in thinking that just because she had unrequited feelings for Zhi Ting, she did not do anything to try to change that situation.

He recognized that what he is feeling is jealousy and clamped down on it.

Everything is in the past... before he came into her life.

"I took one of my one-night-stand's underwear before", Xi Ze announced.

Zi Wei, Yue, DiDi, and Xi Zi spit their shots.

"I still do not believe that you have never done that Xi Zi", Yi Fan declared after swallowing tequila, "I mean... DiDi's so picky and I am sure he would never do that but you, Xi Zi... REALLY MAN?"
