Yue decided to not go back to their house.
A habit that started when she was seven years old, she decided instead to go to her Grandmother's house, because she just felt too upset.
Shen Liena was lounging in her veranda when Yue arrived, and the older woman immediately enveloped her in a hug.
Her smile could split the heavens.
"My love!!!"
"NaiNai"
"Have you eaten?"
She shook her head. She lost all her appetite after fighting with Wang He Di and found herself sitting inside her car for a good hour before finally driving off.
"Well then let us eat", she was ushered by the Shen matriarch to the dining room "Why do you look so thin? Are you not eating right?"
"NaiNai, Yang says I eat like a guy."
She has several younger cousins from relatives who are not as fortunate as theirs that her Grandmother looks after. Liena also pays for the education of these girls and boys, hence she is well loved by everyone in their family.
These boys and girls prepared the table for her to eat and she gave each of them a hug and thanked them before sitting down.
There was so much food on the table one would think she brought an army with her. Liena has always been such a generous hostess.
Yue got as far as slurping on ice cream for dessert before her grandmother went for the jugular.
"Who did you fight with?"
It would be stupid to deny it.
"Not anyone important, NaiNai."
"Then why the long face when you arrived?"
Wasn't that the million-dollar question?
She sighed. She has been asking herself the same kind of question for days now.
What does she care about what Wang He Di thinks of her? What does she care if he is angry? What does it matter that it hurts him every time he sees her because she reminds him of her great love because of what she wrote in her book?
"NaiNai... you know I do not fight with people a lot. Except Yang, of course. But that's because he is an idiot a lot of times. Anyway... I am not used to fighting with anyone. Even when I am angry, even when I am annoyed, and even if I do not want to be affected by what I am told... it seems though that I just cannot help it."
Liena's eyes sparked with understanding.
"Everyone who has a heart will always be affected by what goes on around them. And you my dear child, you have one of the softest hearts I know. How can you help it?"
"Nainai, my heart has hardened somehow."
"If you say so..."
She shook her head in helplessness. "I came to you because I know there is no one else I can talk to about this."
The older woman raised a brow. "Don't you have friends?"
Yue does not even know where to begin and how to tell her NaiNai the situation she has found herself in.
"I actually have a lot."
"Then why don't you talk to them?"
"They are not as wise as you."
LIena rolled her eyes. "Young woman, you do not need to butter me up. Also, you are my grandchild and you are intelligent. You wouldn't be intelligent if you did not have my genes."
