By the smile on their faces, Zi Wei knows that today must have been a really great day.
She hugged Yue tightly as her brother assisted her out of the car and felt her spirit rise at the image the other woman presented.
Yue is positively glowing and despite the fact that Zi Wei rarely sees her brother's girlfriend cry and she usually could be found with a grin, she is sure that there must have been times this month when she felt frustrated, tired, and hopeless.
The other woman has the amazing ability of hiding feelings that can bother her from being felt by those around her and the immediate discarding of anything that can trigger negative emotions within her after she declared that she would rather focus on getting better and recovering her health and the use of her legs.
Still, trying to be positive all the time could also take a toll on one's soul and Zi Wei knows that her friend is still human.
However, the smile Yue has now is giving her heart delight.
The other woman looks truly happy.
"I think this is finally the time for all of us to move forward". she paused as Chen Feiyu's words from this morning's brunch came back to her.
She greeted her brother with a hug with hopes that if it has been a great day for the couple so far, it must mean a great day for Feiyu too.
In the past months, there have been many times they have been able to see each other just to talk and catch up.
Faiyu has gone through a lot and she found herself extending a hand to him to be a person he can talk to, a person who will listen to his woes, a person who can extend a hand to him in these trying times... a friend.
Especially with Zuer suffering from Temporally Graded Retrogade Amnesia.
"I thought we've begun to move forward six months ago", Zi Wei told him.
Feiyu chuckled at that, but somehow it sounded hollow.
"Everything your brother told me happened."
She shook her head at him, trying to lift his mood up. "Feiyu, that's in the past now. Your wife has started to regain her memories back. She finally remembers you. She remembers your son. She almost remembers everything now. We all thought she would never recover from that, but we have been given a miracle! You have to stop feeling sorry for yourself."
The hollowness faded a little and he tried for a smile. "I am not saying that I am not happy and that I am not thankful that her memory has returned. I just cannot help but think back on the past months and how I continued to still be a hindrance as I experienced everything DiDi said. I know I already apologized to him but I continue to feel so much more apologetic. I cannot imagine how another person survived all that sadness and suffering alone. And he did it far longer than I did."
Zi Wei squeezed him on the shoulders. "Feiyu, you have apologized enough. We all know and understand how sincere you are. We've witnessed it every day. Isn't Zuer being discharged later? Instead of making our brunch a self-pity session, shouldn't you be busy getting your house ready for her arrival?"
He suddenly looked like a nervous wreck. "Do you know that I've cleaned our house at least ten times already? And I've kept everything as is. I tried to remember as much as I can even down to how she placed her books, her toiletries, her make-up."
She smiled as she finally understood why the man had asked her out to brunch. After a deep sigh she reminded him, "Feiyu... for the first time in months... your wife called out to you and hugged you out of her own will. WHY ARE YOU SO NERVOUS????"
