Troy opened his eyes. Evan sat over him, his head cradled in her lap. HE quickly jolted up seeing her.
"you went after her. that was nice of you." She smiled brightly at him. for some reason though he had trouble making out her face fully. there was nothing obscuring his view, but her face seemed, blurry.
"i had to. i couldnt let it happen again. i feel like i need to thank you and say im sorry." Troy said. "i didnt do what i did just for Hyomins sake. i did it, so you'd forgive me too."
"i know they say, what you do, defines who you are. but Troy you are a good person. you need to remember that." Evan said putting her hand on his shoulder. Troy could not feel her touch. "you dont need to prove anything. not to me.you dont need any forgiveness from me. so stay. stay here."
Troy looked around. it was a shabby, gray bare walled concrete building. crackled cylinder pillars were the only thing in the room with them. a dimly lit lantern burned on the floor beside them. the cold and empty room was a place he recognized from some time ago.
"this is where we first kissed." Troy remembered. "it wasnt the most romantic place was it." he scratched his head.
"will you stay with me?" EVan asked him. Troy looked at her. he tried to see her clearly. he looked down to her abdomen. her white shirt stained with blood.
"i cant stay here. this isnt real. it's a dream." Troy shook his head.
"you're forgetting me more each day." Evan looked away from him.
"no, i could never forget you." Troy said sadly.
" then why cant you see me clearly anymore troy? is it because theres someone else in your life now?" Evan said, continuing to not look at Troy.
"Evan..." Troy didnt know what to say. "there is a part of me that wishes i could go back and change what happened that day. id change a lot... "
"but you wont stay even after saying that." Evan said quietly.
Troy hung his head.
"because deep down you know you cant. you know you have to move forward. and most importantly you have to forgive yourself." Evan said to him dearly.
Troy looked up and Evan, who sat before him started to fade.
"Evan!" he said reaching to her, but his hand went through the image of her, like it was smoke.
"you can wake up now Troy." She said before almost completely fading away.
Troy woke up from his eerie nostalgic dream. the dull lifeless gray walls replaced by cleaner, brighter white walls. he flickered his eyelids a few times. the whiteness of the room reminded him of the building he was in with hwayoung. did he make it out? he couldnt recall. he quickly jolted up.
"Hwayoung!" he shouted, but became light headed from rising too quickly.
"easy there chief." Boram said. she was sitting casually with her legs crossed reading a book beside him.
"Boram?" troy rubbed his eyes. he realized he was not actually there, and in a hospital bed. "whats going on? where is hwayoung?"
"what do you mean 'whats going on?'" Boram said putting her book down in her lap. "i was hoping to get some answers from you!"
"is Hwayoung okay?" troy repeated himself.
"shes fine. shes here as well. and so is Hyomin, much to our relief." Boram explained. Troy sighed in relief and laid his head back down.
