it was night time and Troy sat on his couch alone in silence. the light on his end table gave the room a soft glow. he had a pen in his hand and looked deeply at a blank white piece of paper on his coffee table. he fiddled with the pen and ran his fingers through his hair locked in a staring contest with the paper.
"i wish this damn thing could write itself" Troy groaned to himself as he placed the pen down and leaned back into his couch. he kicked his legs up onto the table and sighed.
"Jangs vigil is tomorrow night... i don't have a lot of time..."
as he thought of something meaningful to write for the speech he was to give at jangs vigil, his phone rang and he reached over to grab it.
"hello?" he asked
"its me" said Mou on the other end.
"oh." troy said disappointed.
"expecting someone else?" Mou asked.
"well not really. what is it?" Troy replied.
"just wondering if you had anything to report." Mou said casually.
"no. and you think it would be easier this time.." Troy jested.
"well it looks like our hunch to keep you there was right. i was informed our scanner is showing activity in your vicinity." Mou explained.
"i see." Troy replied.
"again its not 100%. but the odds are improving that is not just an error on our end. so, keep your eyes and ears open."
"ok i understand." said Troy.
"i may be stopping in sometime soon for additional details. alright?" Mou added
"yea. no problem. ill see you then i guess." Troy said
"ok" said Mou hanging up.
Troy dropped his phone and looked at the paper again.
"im going no where fast." he said pushing the paper away. "i cant force it... it will come to me i guess."
Troy gave up on writing for the night and hoped he would have something tomorrow. he clicked off the lamp and went to turn in for the night...
the next day seemed to come too quick. lately it seemed troy couldn't catch a break from anything. he always felt on edge. its always one thing after another. he still had to prepare to write something for tonight and the day wasn't getting any longer. he tried to get some of it done while in classes but he didn't make any significant progress.
luckily lunch was coming and he figured he could have some peace of mind there and add significant progress to his speech.
Troy sat at the lunch table and Hank and Pryor sat across from him. the usual upbeat and playful trio were quiet and peaceful today. they watched Troy jot word after word onto his paper. and with every word a new wrinkle appeared on his forehead.
"i dont want to snap you out of your 'zone' but im glad you decided to do this speech." Pryor said. he motioned for Hank to say something to Troy as well.
"o yea.. its great. the team will appreciate it too." Hank added but in an obvious monotonous voice.
"im sure the gesture is nice but the speech itself is going to make everyone forget the gesture and say i suck and laugh at me." Troy sighed covering his face with his hands. "i cant think of anything to say i dont even know what im supposed to say." his voice muffled by the hands on his face.
