Chapter 15

Troy wiped the shocked expression off his face as Mou walked his way through those in attendance over to Troy.

"why didn't you invite me to your party Troy?" Mou asked him sarcastically.

"what are you doing here??" Troy said quietly but with a hint of anger "are you nuts?"

"relax." Mou said patting Troy on the shoulder. "mind if i have one?" he took a beer off the kitchen counter and popped it open.

"so you wanna tell me why you're here? i know it isnt just for the party." Troy said to mou.

"i said i'd be stopping in." mou explained, reminding troy of the note. "by the way how is the new ride?"

"well nice timing, and the 'ride' is fine." Troy stammered.

Troy and Mou were interrupted by Narsha and Sunny."Troy" narsha said, her voice had a tinge of tipsy in it as did her breath. "when are you going to introduce us to your good looking friends."

"well, i wasnt." Troy answered sharply.

"don't be so cold." Mou said sticking out his hand to Narsha. "were friends of Troys from back home. we heard he was having a party and decided to see him cause its been awhile."

"well hello and welcome to our town, Im narhsa" she introduced herself politely.

"and im Sunny." she said while smiling brightly and pushing her way in between them.

"and im honored" replied mou with charm. the girls blushed and giggled at each other.

"knock it off." Troy said pushing them apart "i dont mean to be rude but my old 'friends' came here to talk to me about something kinda private and important so if you will excuse us."

Troy lead Mou and the man with him down the hall to his room and locked the door behind them.

"now what the heck is it?" Troy demanded.

"just to see if you had any updates." Mou said.

"no, i dont. this is gona take time remember? if it was easy we wouldnt have to do all of THIS." troy said getting increasingly flustered. "we got kinda lucky when i located Jang so easily."

"Jang? oh you mean the previous target." mou said making Jang seem like an object, and not a person. "well about that. remember i was telling you that another signal was being picked up? its confirmed 100%."

"it wasnt before? so ive been here based on a hunch? all this time?" troy asked.

"and dont act like that is such an inconvenience for you." Mou said back at Troy. "i still have the paperwork for your extraction on hand if you really want out."

"just get on with it then." troy sighed.

"thats what i thought." Mou snapped back at him. "this is Lt. Chad Silvane from Centrals Science department" mou said finally introducing the man with him to troy. he had a buzzed cut like Mou, only it was longer. he had a chinstrap style beard and was in well physical condition.

"a Lt, came all this way?" Troy asked.

"the scans we've been reading are 100% error free." said Chad. "there is another mark in this area for sure."

"well, any chance that error free tracer could tell me who it is a little better?" Troy asked.

"well, as you said earlier. if it could do that we wouldnt have to do all this..." chad said using Troys own words. "this technology may have advanced since our initial use but its still far from perfect."

"what exactly, does it scan for?" Troy asked.

"raw energy." chad said simply. "i could explain more but i dont think youd understand unless you spent a few months down in the labs researching. but basically, anomalies in energy."

"think of it like power surges. there is a natural energy all around us. the targets can conduct that energy through them, harness it." mou said. "you should know about this first hand."

"yea. but what im hearing also means it could be a thunderstorm, or an electric surge in someones house." Troy pointed out.

"yes, but this is almost constant. or in the every least much more frequent" Chad informed Troy. " i have a few questions about the last target, if you dont mind. i read your report."

"you mean Jang?" troy said reminding them the target had a name.

"yes Jang." chad responded.

"what about him."

"there were no visible signs before your encounter? you saw his so called 'transformation' first hand that one time only?" Chad asked.

"yes. before that i had no idea Jang was who i was looking for. but looking back now, his frequent absences before all that made some sense. like he was, hiding it...unable to control it?" troy explained the best he could.

"or learning how to control it." mou chimed in.

"not ruling that out either." Troy said. "he seemed pretty aware of what was happening to him at the time, like it wasn't his first time. but..i don't think he had any idea what it really was."

"so the possibility of him being in league with an Elementian is very unlikely." chad said. "you are aware of Elementians by now right Troy?"
