9.The Last Council member

A female Vampire dressed in white robe has walked into V's office without any prior announcement.

V raises his eyebrows. It's odd to see fashionable Irene to dress in such old fashion ways.

Irene bow slightly to him, the leader of all Vampires. Actually V could be considered as a King. But he refused such title. The word leader is enough for him.

"Auntie, what is it? Another raise in your monthly allowance?" teases him.

"My King, I humbly asked you to stop this senseless war."

The smile fades from his face.

Irene continues, "There was a time when all races united under one banner. Humans, werewolves and us. Joined forces to fight the evil Dragonites."

"The Dragonites have gone extinct a century ago. The war hadn't stopped for us. The wolves won't let us live in peace."

Irene puts a hand on her chest.

She begs, "As the last council member, I humbly asked your wisdom, My King. Stop this war. Before our race goes extinct too."

Suga suddenly slams his fists to a table in front of him. The table breaks into two.

"The Vampires would reign this world forever. Who have brain washed you? That stupid human?"

Irene takes a step back when Suga approaches him.

"Suga..."

Just one word from V and Suga has paused. He only stares Irene with pain shown in his face.

V shakes his head.

He explains, "The wolves won't stop killing us. I want peace, Auntie. It ain't that easy..."

"Then I shall talk to the wolves."

"They would shred you to pieces! You only know one thing. That's shopping until you're broke!"

Suga rubs his head when he sees tears are forming in her eyes.

"Sorry... I didn't mean..."

"No. You meant every word, Suga. For all of you, I'm nothing but a useless one. Time to prove my worth in this Clan."

Suga yells, "Irene, wait!"

Irene has gone.

V holds his head. His Auntie never think twice before she does something. Her whole life is based on impulses.

Suga slams the door hard. He has just returned from her bedroom. Irene has gone. Nothing in there except her clothes and shopping bags.

V taps his shoulders.

"Warn the guards. Catch her before she crossed the border to the Wolves domain."

"I'm going to catch her myself."

V suggests, "Don't be too hard on her. She's delicate."

V says nothing more. Pain in Suga's eyes. He has been in love with Irene for many years. Unrequited love has made him a bitter man.

V suggests, "Maybe it's time you move on. Forget her. Find another one."

"If only it's that simple."

Irene kept looking backwards. No sign of the palace guards. She holds her bag tighter. This is the first time she ventures out alone. Usually she has many servants with her.

"Are you lost?" asks a young woman.

She is sitting on a street barrier near the fountain.

Irene only replies, "No."

She kept on walking.

"You look lost. Why a pigeon like you wander in a night like this?"

Irene turns around and she protests, "I'm not a pigeon. I'm a proud member of Vampire Council."

"That old? You must be getting senile."

"How dare you?"

A gas sprays to her face makes Irene feels dizzy.

"What are you..."

Irene collapses. The mysterious woman catches her before she falls to the street.

"Like I said. A pigeon. You should be grateful. We got bigger predators in the neighborhood."

The woman stares to some shady characters hiding in the dark.

The night is still young. Predators are lurking for preys. Innocent vampire like her would be easy target.

She whistles and few vampires show up to help her. They carry Irene into a silver van.

"This is one busy night. Too many preys," says her when she caresses a head of wounded teen boy.

He has been bitten before she could rescue him.

The van moves to highway, getting further from the giant fountain in the middle of the city.

Suga hits a TV screen in his rage. No one has seen Irene since last night. He has gone to check CCTV recordings all over town.

Someone has abducted her.

It's his fault. He made her angry. She left the palace to prove her worth. She might be dead. Because Suga's pride got wounded. Because she kept refusing his love for her.

"Irene, forgive me..."

He gritted his teeth. He would turn this town upside down until he has found the woman he loves.

He puts his head against the dashboard. He inhales a deep breath before he starts his car again.

V has been informed. He has sent palace guards to search the town.

The theme song for Suga is Jamais Vu.
Unrequited love hurts him so deeply. He isn't the same man before he fell in love.

Jamais Vu means never seen. It felt doing something new or for the first time.

Suga has fallen for Irene for countless times. He swore to abandon his love for her. Yet he failed again and again. He kept falling in love with her as if it was the first time.
