Paramedic: "Rick Freeark, 29. Severed three fingers on his left hand. Controlled the bleeding. Vitals stable. Gave him five of morphine." he says as they bring a man out of the amublance

Sky: "Fingers?"

Paramedic: "Had trouble retrieving them, so we took off. Rig behind us found 'em. They're iced and ready. Ten minutes out."

Sky: "Continue with lV fluids and start a course of antibiotics."

Bailey: "Yang, wait outside for the fingers."

Man: "Can you sew them on? They sewed that guy's penis back on after his wife chopped it off."

Sky: "Penises and fingers are like apples and oranges."

George: "How did it happen?"

Man: "I was loading my gear on to the truck for a gig and they got caught."

Alex: "You're a musician?"

Man: "I play the guitar. You can sew them back on, right? This is not that big a deal, right? Oh, dude, I better not be out of the band." he says and after checking him out for other injuries, Sky pages Derek to take a look at his fingers

Alex: "Yumi Miyazaki, 22. Presented this morning with persistent hiccups."

Izzie: "She was given 50 chlorpromazine which stopped them, but then they returned, so she needs a surgical consult to rule out esophageal perforation."

Sky: "When did your hiccups start?"

Man: "A few days ago. She doesn't speak English."

Sky: "You her boyfriend?"

Man: "Her coach."

Alex: "She's an athlete?"

Man: "Yumi is a competitive eater."

Izzie: "Eating is a sport?" she asks with a breathy scoff

Alex: "Miyazaki. Yeah, yeah. She's like a rock star in Japan."

Izzie: "Again, eating is a sport?"

Alex: "Tell her I saw her on TV. Tell her I'm an athlete too. I'm a wrestler."

Man: "She wonders how a wrestler got smart enough to be a doctor. Most wrestlers she knows are dumb." she says after speaking Japanese to her

Alex: "Tell her she hasn't been hanging out at the right gyms."

Sky: "How about instead you tell her that a persistent hiccup could be an indication of something much more serious? Schedule an esophagogram."

Man: "She's competing this afternoon at the Taste of Seattle. Can't you give her a stronger dose of that drug? It worked."

Sky: "Did the hiccups come back?"

Man: "Yes, but-"

Sky: "Then it didn't work." she says walking away with Izzie and Sky following her as they head over to Bailey who goes to move but begins to groan, alerting all three of them

Izzie: "Dr. Bailey?"

Bailey: "Be quiet."

Sky: "Dr. Bailey, are you ok?" she asks gently putting her hand on her back

Bailey: "All right, somebody page Addison Shepherd." she says as Izzie goes to page the woman

Sky: "Karev bring me a wheelchair."

Sky: "Mr. Kamaji? This is probably what's causing her hiccups. A tear in the lining of her esophagus."

Man: "Can you fix it?"

Sky: "Yes, surgically. Sooner the better."

Man: "After today, her schedule is clear until March."

Sky: "No, her schedule is clear now. She can't compete today. And if she enjoys the taste of solid food, I recommend giving up the sport for something a little less aggressive. Say, boxing."

Man: "I see. Could you give us some privacy please?"

Sky: "Karev, get the translator up here. Let's make sure she's getting the whole truth."

Alex: "She's cyanotic with shallow breath sounds. BP 76 over 42, tachycardia to the 130's. Started her on high flow O2. On her second bolus of saline." he says as Bailey and Izzie come over to them

Sky: "Alright let's get her to the OR."

Izzie: "They're ready and waiting."

Alex: "Her freaking coach should be the one on this gurney." he says glaring at the man outside the door

Bailey: "Let's keep our eyes on the prize, Karev. Saving this woman's life."

Alex: "I'll meet you guys up there."

Izzie: "Me too."

Sky: "Dr. Karev, how do I begin the esophagomyotomy?"

Alex: "Cut proximal and distal to the tear to expose the mucosal defect."

Bailey: "Correct. Then we'll move to the debridement of the defect-" she says before gasping in pain

Izzie: "Dr. Bailey, those aren't Braxton Hicks contractions. I believe you are in preterm labor."

Sky: "Someone page the chief."

Richard: "Why didn't you call me sooner?" he asks coming into the room "All right. Get out of here."

Bailey: "I was gonna fashion a gastric patch."

Richard: "I taught both of you the procedure. Now leave. Clamp." he says as he continues the procedure along with Sky

Richard: "I'll be closing the peritoneal cavity with zero chromic sutures. Thank you."

Alex: "Chief." he says motioning over to the woman who's standing in the scrub room while holding a piece of paper up to the window

Richard: "Let's get back to it. Pull back on that retractor."

Sky: "Give me more suction. I'll need a sponge on a stick. More suction."

Richard: "What's going on?" he asks when she comes into the room

Woman: "I tried, but you wouldn't listen. It is now 6:07. The second shift nurses start at six. They're not coming in."

Richard: "Do you know what a sick out will do to this hospital?"

Woman: "I've already put in the call for temps." she says putting the paper down on a cart

Richard: "What's this?"

Woman: "Notification. We go on strike in ten days."

Woman: "How many hours do they expect us to work?"

Woman 2: "I agree."

Derek: "Strike?" he says seeing all the nurses walk past them as Richard cleans and OR board and he goes to stand next to Burke and Sky

Burke: "Strike."

Richard: "You are all a bunch of arrogant surgeons." he says turning to face them before storming off

Sky: "How long do you think it's going to take before he finally loses his mind?" she asks as the two men shrug their shoulders before they turn to watch his retreating figure once more
