Her every step balanced in rhythm as she walked through the busy halls of Snowdin. It’s funny to know that this very hall was named after the town she considered as memorable. The forest that led there was the first place she met the skeleton that wore that particular everlasting grin. And this hall she walks upon reminded her of that moment. She thought of their first greeting in this school, which she surprisingly noticed the similarities of what happened before, and the present. It clearly looks the same. Turn around. Shake my hand. ‘Ol whoopee cushion trick. Sans. It’s as if time is trying to repeat itself.
But however, she did hope that if time is really trying to go back, the thing she did, the accident path to genocide, would never happen. Again, the feeling of guilt surged inside her, reminding her how exactly she killed Papyrus, singlehandedly. The thought of chopping his head down haunted her thoughts every day.
Her thoughts were broken as her gaze fell on Sans, who walked towards her. He seemed happy, waving and smiling at her (He’s always smiling! Forever.). Just as she was about to return the greeting, she fell silent, shocked if I must say, after hearing what Sans said next.
“Heyya, Honey!” he called out. Roses slowly bloomed through her soft cheeks upon hearing the… Name.
-------------------------------------------------------------
He had been thinking about a nickname for a while. Sure he didn’t wanna end up calling her ‘kid’ again, fearing that a confusion between the three Dreemurr siblings may occur. He didn’t want that to happen again.
As he walked through the halls to his class, he was in deep thought. He didn’t mind the students he passed by, all greeting him, which consisted of girls, not surprising though. He encounters them every morning, and it annoys him very much. It’s not his fault he looked charming enough to swoon the girls (This is a lie).
While he ‘think-walk’, he’d also dodge any zooming students, skidding his sneakers at some point. Exhaling, he thought of Frisk. Heh, this felt rather awkward for the skeleton. Thinking about someone else that doesn’t even concern him is not normal. Scanning her features in his head, he tried to find a likely name that would suit her just fine. Her chocolate brown hair, her fair skin, her always closed eyes, her sweet soft smile that didn’t seem to fade away… Wait, why is he thinking about her, anyways? He sighed.
Every time he thinks of her, he gets distracted. Like if he was sort of, spell bounded. Did he actually fell for her in just one day? No way. He ain’t doing any relationships. Just thinking of girls just makes him want to hurl. Besides, it’s not like he even hangs out with one much, exception towards Chara. The fact that he’s gynephobic didn’t help him much either.
He paused, reviewing the current subject he’s daydreaming. Her chocolate brown hair, her fair skin, her always closed eyes, her sweet soft smile that didn’t seem to fade away… Something’s missing. He remembered the first time they met. The day she cried for some reason. Her first reaction was a surprised look, jerking her eyes open. Her always closed eyes… Of course! He remembered the sight of the two shining golden irises, each located in each eye. Just remembering that made him realize she’s obviously a beautiful girl.
Seeing Frisk in the distance, he smiled at her widely, waving his hands, and not even thinking about what he would say, called her, “Heyya, Honey!” Oh no, he thought.
Seeing Frisk all flustered up, made him think of her even more adorable. She must’ve thought that the name was for some reason. What? No, no, no… He felt his cheekbones also heating up, a light blue dusted on it. ‘W-what?’ a very soft voice stammered in his head.
“N-n-no, that’s not what I meant!” he cried, his face now in a cyan tone. ‘Pull yourself together Sans!’, he thought, ‘You don’t want her to get the wrong idea. Just play it cool.’
He straightened himself into a much more comfortable position. “Honey. That’s the name I’m giving you. You know, your eyes resemble much of it.” he explained casually, and to act like things are just so normal to him, he added, “Don’t ya think, Honey?” This made the poor girl blush even more, which also made Sans smirk in amusement. ‘No one told me playing someone else other than your brother, and friends are actually fun.’ he thought, a sly smile curved its way through his permanent, uh, smile.
“What’s wrong? Ya don’t like it?” he asked, a bit uncertain about the girl’s flustered reaction. ‘N-no! I mean, yes! I mean…’ she sighed, stammering in her thoughts, ‘It’s just that I’m not used to it, and it felt a bit… Awkward calling someone like that. Especially when we just met.’ she added, which she knew that wasn’t at all true. She knew this skeleton from the very first time they met in Snowdin.
“Don’t cha worry, Honey. It ain’t meaning anything anyways.” he said, reassuring her. But that was, until Asriel came to hear the name.
“What did you just call her?!” the goat-boy fumed, clearly not at all approved by what he just heard, “Honey? Explain yourself! You better stay away from her if you don’t wanna get starred!”
“No! That’s not what I meant. Remember yesterday? I gotta give her another nickname if you don’t wanna end up being mistaken as a kid again.” explained Sans, shrugging, “So I decided to call her ‘Honey’ ‘cause of her eyes, that’s all. It suits her perfectly…” he was interrupted by Asriel, repeating, “You saw her eyes?” he asked, clearly surprised. The short monster nodded in reply, which only made Asriel frown. Never have Frisk ever opened the two eyelids that covered her two orbs. The kid never really saw what her eyes might look like, she’s never shown anyone, even her family. And he never really expects that she’d give way to this guy, right here.
“What did they look like?” asked Asriel, curious. Sans smiled at the image of Frisk’s golden eyes in his thoughts. When will he see those two shimmering beads again? “Gold.” he murmured in reply.
“So golden…” Asriel paused, before looking back at the skeleton, screaming, “Then why the hell did you call her Honey then?!”
“They weren’t just that golden. They were golden glazed. And ‘Goldy’ didn’t sound any better, so I thought ‘Honey’ could just do the trick.” Sans muttered low, but enough for Asriel to hear. The goat-boy couldn’t do anything but just shrug, “Let’s just hope it ain’t meaning anything.”
“It doesn’t!” objected Sans, defending his case.
“Yeah, but I’m still keeping an eye on you…” warned the kid, as he continued to walk onwards. He sighed in response. Close call, ‘I know’. He glanced at Frisk, and grumbled, “If ya don’t want the name, you could just tell me now and sort things out together.” he said, preparing for the worst. He spent all night just to think of a name, yet here he is, back to square one…
‘I don’t actually mind.’ she answered, hoping ‘Honey’ won’t turn into something as embarrassing as ‘Goldy’ or ‘Pumpkin, whatever, ‘I kinda like it, though. It’s simple, yet, I hope it doesn’t alarm the whole school.’
He gazed at her, shocked to hear that she actually liked the name. He blushed at his reply, but quickly stop himself. “As long as nothing else happens, it ain’t meaning anything.” He chuckled, smiling at her, as always.
