"Wait what?" I asked. I was still in the process of waking up and I couldn't think straight.
"She broke up with me."
"Why would she do that?" I asked.
"S-She was cheating on me." he stuttered.
"What?"
"I guess she didn't like the long distance or something. I don't know. But, she called me and told me that she couldn't hide it anymore. She couldn't do this anymore. I just." he took a deep breath. "She never said anything. We were perfectly fine whenever we video chatted."
"Logan, calm down." I replied but he kept on rambling on. "Logan." I said again.
"Logan." I whisper shouted. I looked around to see if anyone was awake. Seth moved a bit so I slowly got up from the couch and went upstairs to my room. After shutting the door behind me, I jumped on my bed.
"Logan, you need to relax." I said. All I could hear was someone breathing yet no words were spoken. I understood he needed time. But, why would she do that? How could you just go behind someone's back and cheat on them then not feel guilty about it?
This truly was a cruel world.

"You okay?" I asked. He nodded his head but didn't say a word. I didn't blame him. Today, we were going out to start Christmas shopping then at 6 we were supposed to meet our parents for dinner. "Some people in this world are so cruel." Still no answer. Somewhere along the way, I finally gave up trying to talk to him and just focused on my thoughts. I mean I know he was hurt but he didn't have to ignore me. It's better to let out your feelings instead of bottling them up inside. Sometimes you bottle so many things up that you explode. Exploding leads to doing things you regret and leaves you with a mess. I would know.*
We walked into the restaurant, looking around for our family. "May I help you?" a lady at the front stand asked."Yeah we're here for the party of um.. it might either be under Harper or Greene. Either way, it's for a party of seven." I replied. She looked at her list and led us to the table. As soon as we got there, they all greeted us. I sat in the empty seat that was next to Seth. Logan sat on the other side of the table but far away from where I was next to his parents. For a few moments they gave us a weird look but they continued their conversation anyway. For the whole entire time we sat there quietly and I managed to steal a couple of glances. The last time I looked over at him, he looked also and stared at me with his sad eyes and a guilty expression plastered on his face. What was he guilty about? She was the one that did this to him. If anything, she should have been the one to feel this way right now. Such a great person shouldn't be put through something like this. But, that was just the way it was. No matter how good you are, things are still going to come just as difficult and painful as any other person would have it.
That was the way it worked and that was the way we lived. We had to take it and stick through it no matter the difficulties.

"I'm pretty sure you're going to need a ride so hop in honey." my mom said shutting the door. I quickly jumped in the back seat of the car and put on my seat belt before staring out the window. As we drove of, the trees became a blur. All I could see was a blur of white and brown as we went. The drive wasn't long but it felt like it took forever. As we finally reached the house, I didn't realize what was there until I heard my mom call my name. I turned to her but before I could answer, a certain something- actually a certain someone caught my attention."We'll meet you inside the house, Charlotte." she said as calmly as she could. They all slowly got out of the car and walked towards the front door.
"If he hurts you-" Seth started before he got out but I interrupted him.
"I got this." I replied, my heart pounding. He nodded his head and got out the car. I finally got myself to open the door and slowly step out. Tired of waiting, he walked towards me.
"What are you doing here?" I asked. He handed me a bouquet of flowers that he had been holding in his hands. Hesitantly, I grabbed it and examined the flowers.
"They're your favorite." Jack replied, scratching the back of his neck. I took another look at them and they were.
"You didn't answer my question." I reminded him sternly. He just continued to stare at me with his big, brown eyes. Do not give in, Charlotte.
"I came to um-" he rocked on his heels back and forth, nervously. "To talk to you."
"About?"
"The other day when I-"
"Monday at school?"
"Yeah."
"What about it?"
"Ever since I first saw you again. Ever since that day I left you. I- I couldn't get you out of my head. The thought of you broken just hurt me and I couldn't get that picture out of my mind. It killed me inside, day after day. It still does. Now I see you again, and you still remember that day so, so-"
"Detailed. I remember everything. I remember the feelings, what happened." I explained. "The pain." As soon as I said those two words his expression softened and he had a pained expression. He deserved to know.
"Just knowing that makes me feel worse and worse everyday. Just knowing I was the reason for that crossing my mind every single damn day.
"Now that I'm back, I see you at school with that guy and you look so happy-"
"W-wait. Logan?" he nodded his head. "We're not together or whatever you think. He my dad's boss' son. We're just friends."
Jacks face lit up and I couldn't help but stare at him a little weird. He isn't going to ask-
"You're not?" he asked. I shook my head and he smiled. "Then I could finally ask you-"
"Wait a minute. Did you come here to ask me.. out again or something?" I asked. He slowly nodded his head and I sighed.
"I thought-"
"You thought that if you apologized I'd just jump right back into your arms, didn't you, Jack?" He didn't answer he just continued to stare. That was all it took to answer my question.
"So it took you a year to ask me after I have finally moved on-"
"I knew it." he interrupted me.
"What?"
"I knew it." he repeated. "You have feelings for Logan." I stared at him with wide eyes. He thought I?
"No, no, no, no." I shouted. "You've got it all wrong. Moving on doesn't have to mean I like someone else."
"So you don't?" he asked. I shook my head and he smiled, yet again. The smile I once fell for. Now, it was the smile that pissed me off.
"Now if you're done, it's late and it's cold and I just want-"
"Think about it." he replied. I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, yeah. Sure. Now, if you will excuse me. I'm going inside. It's freezing." he laughed.
"Okay, Char." he replied as I walked inside. What did I just get myself into?
