"I don't understand why both of our moms had to go." I said as I spun my ice around with my straw.

"I know right." he replied taking a quick sip. "It's just a business conference for our dads- well your dad and my step dad. But, our moms don't even work there."

"They probably just wanted to get away from us."

"Now that we're older they think we'd like staying home alone."

"I mean it's nice and everything but it gets pretty lonely." I said, taking a bite of a fry. Since both of our parents were out on a business conference, Logan and I decided to spend the day together. To finish off the day, we were eating dinner at some random restaurant we found and then we're going to drive around this neighborhood. Every year, the people in that neighborhood decorate their houses with the nicest Christmas decorations. So many people went driving around with their families looking at them and the people in the neighborhood usually were out selling hot chocolate and popcorn. I was so excited to go that I could barely sit down in my seat without wanting to jump into the car and drive there.

"I gotta save some room for the hot chocolate." I said, patting my stomach.

"Me too." he replied, pushing his seat back. It felt like they were taking hours to bring the check with the card back. I couldn't wait anymore. Finally they brought it and we hurriedly walked out the restaurant once everything was taken care of and rushed to the car as soon as it was in sight. The drive there was so quiet as I admired the beautiful reddish pink sky. It was 5:30 and the sun was almost down.

"Almost there." Logan announced and I turned to the front. I jumped a little in my seat and lightly kicked my feet.

"Someone's excited." he glanced my way then back at the road.

By the time we finally reached the neighborhood, the sky was dark and the moon was out.

"Are you ready?" he asked, pulling into the entrance of the neighborhood. I nodded my head and rubbed my hands together. I couldn't wait anymore. I could see the lights coming closer and closer.

The neighborhood was crowded. There were so many cars but that was the best part of it all. The slower it went, the more both of us could enjoy. I admired the lights as we slowly passed by each house. There were so many varieties of decorations ranging from Santa Claus to Jack from the Nightmare Before Christmas. I was amazed by each and every decoration set up. As I looked around at everything, in the corner of my eye I noticed a little someone just staring at me. There he was just smiling like a dork as he watched me get excited over every little thing set up.

"Hot Chocolate!" I ruined the moment as always as I pointed out a stand. He pulled over to park in front of the stand and I swung the door open.

"Stay in here." he said. "I got it." He stepped out of the car and I watched him pay and walk back with two hot chocolates. Once he sat back down in his seat, I thanked him as I slowly slurped the burning hot drink. As soon as my tongue made contact with the liquid, it burned and I yelled.

"Ow!" I stuck out my tongue to let it feel the cold air, hoping it would help.

"What happened?" he glanced at me then back at the road.

"I burned my tongue." I struggled to say with my tongue still out.

"You are like a 5 year old who is so impatient that they go ahead and drink it anyway, knowing that it'll burn." he laughed.

"That's me." I grinned.

"I can't believe I have a crush on a 5 year old at heart." he mumbled, thinking I couldn't hear him. I giggled as quietly as I could so he would continue to think that I didn't hear his comment. The rest of the drive was perfect and beautiful. I swear I could do this everyday.
