After Brianna packed her bag, we stopped by my apartment to get my things. I also told Tracey and Christopher of my urgency and both of them like the sweethearts they were, helped me pack my things.

I called Dr. Cruz and without a second thought, she permitted me a leave. Brianna insisted that we take her jet since she was very guilty of behaving the way she earlier did.

We left for the airport and reached within thirty minutes. We also boarded our private jet and let me just say WOAH! The thing was huge and pretty. Being rich has its own perks.

As soon as we settled and the plane took off, the air hostess gave us warm nuts which I ate within seconds. Don't judge me, I was super hungry.

I was seated on one of the comfy chairs on the right and Brianna was in front of me, admiring the view. Derek was on the left chair and was fast asleep. That was a given, since he traveled to and fro twice and probably had jet lag.

I looked at Brianna who was fighting her tears just like me. As much as we were good at putting on a straight face, we both were breaking from the inside. I've known Brianna my whole life. Rosalind became our friend in middle school.

Since I knew Brianna so well, I also knew how she would react and the excuses she would come up with. I smiled at myself when I remembered the one time when she told our math teacher that she was having a heart attack since she hated math. Instead of clutching her left shoulder, she held her right one and he just looked at her unaffected.

When I chuckled a little bit loudly, Brianna looked at me and gave me a sheepish smile before rolling her eyes. Our understanding was vice versa. She could read me like an open book.

"I'm sorry for saying all of the rude things to you, earlier." I spoke, getting serious.

"It's okay. I'm sorry for behaving so badly."

"It's fine." I smiled and gave her a longing look.

"You knew the whole time." She confessed and then looked at me. "Didn't you?"

"I knew that you didn't have a performance the whole time? Yes. I did."

She shook her head and pulled the comforter closer. "I've been a bad friend. I didn't want to be at her funeral because I don't think I'll be able to see her and know that she won't open her ocean eyes. I'll miss her. I don't think I'm ready to let go of her yet."

"Me too." That's all I said before I closed my eyes and went to sleep.

...

Brianna spoke my name...wait, no. Brianna yelled my name which made me wake up in an instant with a jerk. The sudden moment made me clutch my head and look at her with annoyance.

"We're here." She smiled. "Derek has your bags, sleepy head, let's move."

I got up and combed my hair before stepping out of the jet. Maplebirch didn't have an airport. So, we had to travel till a nearby city and then catch a train. Our tickets were already booked and the journey was hardly twenty minutes.
