I didn't expect Derek to find out. When he asked me to help him, I genuinely thought that he only wanted my help with the dishes.

But when I followed him in, he showed me a piece of paper.

It wasn't any piece of paper, it had the same handwriting as the rest of the notes we received.

I was relieved that it was only Derek and not one of his parents.

I panicked and thought it would be a good idea to call Valerie since she was better at confrontation than me.

So, I went out and gestured her to come with me.

"He knows." I stated.

"He knows what?" She asked me in confusion.

"He knows that Rosalind was murdered." I replied.

Valerie froze in shock but I pulled her.

Once we were back in the kitchen, she snatched the piece of paper from Derek's hand and read, "It's all fun and games, but what if the McAllister's find out that Rosalind didn't commit suicide?"

Valerie gritted her teeth knowing that this was done on purpose. The killer knew that one of the McAllister's were going to open the door.

"Is this true?" Derek looked at me.

"Yes." I answered.

"How could you guys not tell me! I was the one who flew all the way to New York to inform the both of you about my sister's death. You'll didn't have the decency to tell me something huge." He whisper-shouted.

"We couldn't tell you because you were so broken and we didn't want to give you false hope. All the four of us thought that it was some find of an ugly prank. None of us were aware that it was literal." I retorted.

"Let's go out. We will talk about this later. We don't want your parents wondering that something is wrong." Valerie spoke.

"They deserve to know." Derek argued.

"Listen up," I stepped closer to him, looking dead in his eye. "They do deserve to know but we don't even have a name for them. We always get an exciting clue but after solving, we go back to square one. You can tell them when we have some concrete answer for them."

I left the room and felt Valerie walking behind me.

After claiming our seats back, we gave Jordan and Lenny a worried look.

Derek knew and now he would want a part in our little group.

I didn't care but he was the most emotional of us all. We all lost a friend and a girlfriend but he lost his sister.

I didn't want him screwing our plans.

I also knew that Valerie would give in.

I had been a terrible friend to both Rosalind and Valerie. I already lost one of them but I didn't want to lose the other. So arguing was not an option. I just had to find a way for Valerie to agree with me.
