Perfect Elements

A treasured sea of rippling emotion

That frightening first dip into the water

Feels sickeningly cold against skin but lathers like lotion

Oh, how frightening it is to dive into the deep in – a slaughter

Licking flames taste like passion

Truly a live wire dancing like wild fire

No clear thoughts, no ration

Honeymoon phase eclipses reason to inquire

Of our static settling

Like the earth, we are unmoving

Once electricity, now is a nettling

The sight of you reminds me habits need of reproving

It can be a scary thing

The wind constantly changes

Yet we blow the same way like a casual fling

A few meaningless words and fewer exchanges

If I told you it was impossible from the start would you believe me

That we, like the elements, had a foreseeable ending

And failed after so long like a decree

Yet still lingers because, like the elements, it's truly unending.
