When they approached Earth,  both Serenity and Spock decided they would live together. Serenity parted ways with Jim,  telling him she would occasionally check up on him. Jim nodded, and headed his own way. The next morning,  his comm beeped and he reached for it.  The two tailed women protested at his actions. After the call,  he notified his sister and Spock. A few hours later,  Jim,  Spock,  and Serenity met up at Starfleet Headquarters.

"Spock, this is why he called, I can feel it, " Jim told his vulcan brother-in-law.

"Your feeling aside I consider it highly unlikely that we will be selected for the new program, " Spock said him.

"Why else would Pike want to see us?" Jim asked.
"I don't know. Did you leave something important in our old dorm room that I need to know about? " Serenity questioned, raised an eyebrow.

"Ah, um,  no. Forget seeing Morty,  he gave us the newest ship in the fleet.  Who else are they gonna send out? " Jim inquired.

"I can think of numerous possibilities, " Spock responded.

"5 year mission Spock. That's deep space,  uncharted territory. Think about how incredible that's gonna be. Hello ladies. Jim Kirk, " Jim flirted with several girls.

""Jim!" Serenity reprimanded him.

"What?!" Jim protested. The three of them walked into Admiral Pike's office,  and Serenity closed the door.

"Uneventful?" Pike said.

"Admiral-" Jim began.

"That's the way you explained the bureau in your captain's log, " Pike said.

"Ah, yes sir, I didn't want to waste your time going over-" Jim started. Pike interrupted him.

"Tell me more about this volcano? Data says it was highly volatile and if it were to erupt it would wipe out the entire planet."

"Let's hope it doesn't sir, " Jim told him. Serenity raised an eyebrow.

"Something tells me it won't, " Pike responded.

"Ah, well sir, volatile is all relevant. Maybe our data was off, " Jim continued. Serenity snorted,  and turned to create a hanging chair. She sat down and conjured a bottle of Klingon blood wine.

"Or maybe it didn't erupt because Spock detonated a cold fusion device inside it right after a civilization that has barely invented the wheel happened to see a starship rising out of their ocean. That is pretty much how you describe it,  isn't it Spock? " Christopher confronted the vulcan.

"Admiral-" Spock started to answer.

"You filed a report?  Why didn't you tell me?! " Jim interrupted him.

"I incorrectly assumed you would be truthfully in your captain's log," Spock stated.

"Yes, I would have been if I didn't have to save your life. "

"The fact for which I am immeasurably grateful and the fact a necessary to take responsibility-"

"All logic aside I agree with Jim, " Serenity cut in. All three men looked to her in the corner. Her demon tail had emerged and it was twitching slightly violently. "What?!  Do you know what it would have done to me if he died?" She asked indignantly.

"I hardly think-" Spock started.

"Yeah so noble pointy while throwing me under the bus, " Jim interrupted first.

"Pointy?  Is that a derogeritory reference? " Spock cut in.

"Gentlemen. Starfleet's mandate is to explore and not interfere-" Pike began.

"Had the mission had gone according to plan the indigenous species would never have been aware of our existence, " Spock explained.

"That's a technicality, " Pike stated. Spock shifted as he stood before the admirals.

"Sir, vulcans, we embrace technicality. "

"Are you giving me attitude , Spock? " Pike asked.

"I am expressing multitude of attitudes simultaneously to which are you referring? " Spock asked bluntly.

"Out. You're dismissed Commander. Sere," Christopher nodded to Serenity. She nodded back in affirmation.

"I'm on it. Spock you're in trouble with me. Yes,  I'm still mad at you, but I think we can get to an understanding. Tonight we shall bind you, " Serenity told Spock.

"Sere-" Pike started.

"You do it your way, I do it my way, " Serenity stated. "I shall see you later. "
