Chapter 7- Emergency Meeting

"Captain, " Spock said as he walked behind Jim Kirk. 

"I'm not your captain, I'm a first officer, " Jim told him. The two walked to the elevator. "I was demoted and you were reassigned."

"It is most fortunate  the repercussions weren't more severe." Spock stated. 

"Ah,  you've got to be kidding me, " Jim half whispered. 

"Captain it was never my intention-" Spock started to say. 

"Not Captain, " Jim butted in. "I saved your life Spock. You wrote a report, and I lost my ship." The elevator doors opened again, and the two stepped out. 

"Commander,  I see now I should have alerted you to the fact that I submitted a report, " Spock said as he spoke up again. 

"Well,  I am familiar with your compulsion to follow the rules, but see I can't do that." Jim stopped by a column.  "Where I come from, if someone saves your life you definitely don't stab them in the back. 

"Vulcans can not lie, " Spock stated. 

"Then I'm talking to the half human part of you,  alright? Do you understand why I went back for you? " Jim asked his brother-in-law. 

"Commander Spock." A black skinned Captain walked to them.  "Frank Abbey, " he said, introducing himself. "USS Bradbury. Guess you're with me. "

"Yes, Captain. " Spock returned. The captain walked away and Spock looked at Jim. 

"The truth is, I'm gonna miss you. And my sister. I know she'll want to go with you." Jim told Spock.  The vulcan's mouth opened, but no words came out. 

"Uhhhh, " Jim groaned. 

"Admiral Marcus, sir."

"Thank you for convening at such a short notice. Be seated." The Admiral began. The Captains and their first officers sat down. "By now some of you have heard what happened in London. The target was a Starfleet data archive. Now it's a damn hole in the ground, and 42 men and women are dead. One hour ago I received a message from a Starfleet officer who confessed to carrying out this attack, that he was being forced to do it by this man. Commander John Harrison. He is one of our own, and he is the man responsible for this act of savagery. For reasons unknown Harrison has just declared a one man war with Starfleet. And under no circumstances are we to allow this man to escape into federation space. You here tonight represent the senior men of all the vessels in the region. And in the name of those we lost, you will run this bastard down. This is a manhunt pure and simple. Let's get to work. Earth's perimeter sensors have not detected any warp signatures into space,  so we know he can't be far. You will park your ships in a blockade formation. Deploy search vehicles and landing parties. This man has shown willingness to kill, so the rules of engagement are simple." While Admiral Marcus continued to talk, Jim checked the information and photos on both Harrison and the bomb site. 

"What's in the bag? " he asked. 

"James, not now." Pike told him. 

"Doesn't it seem odd to you that he targeted an archive. That's like bombing an library, " Jim whispered. 

"Chris. Everything OK there? " Admiral Marcus asked. 

"Yes,  everything is fine. Mr. Kirk was just acclimating to his new position as first officer," Christopher said. 

"You got something to say Kirk, say it,  tomorrow is too late." Marcus replied. 

"I'm fine sir,  my apologies, " Jim responded. 

"Spit it out son.  Don't be shy," the Admiral encouraged. 

"I'd ju- Why the archive? All that information is public records,  and if he really wanted to damage Starfleet, this could be just the beginning, "Jim explained. 

"Beginning of what, Mr. Kirk? " the Admiral asked. 

"Sir in the event of an attack, the protocol mandates that senior command gathers Captains and first officers at Starfleet HQ right here… in this room. 

"It is curious that Harrison would commandeer a vessel jump ship without warp capabilities, " Spock added. Red lights appeared behind them, and Serenity had portaled beside Spock, just as Jim yelled.

Before the meeting,  Serenity had been watching her daughter Selene,  with her best friend Uhura. Since Selene had started to speak, Serenity and her husband Spock had worked on teaching her how to speak. She was coming along quite well. 

"Mommy, where is Daddy again ?" Selene asked, her golden eyes filled with curiosity. 

"Daddy is in a meeting, with Uncle Jim and Grandpa Chris." Serenity told her inquisitive daughter. She,  Spock and Jim had all agreed that Christopher Pike would be Selene's honorary Grandfather, since he had been a great father figure for Jim, and one of Serenity's best friends. Serenity suddenly felt an odd but familiar sensation of dread. She looked around the apartment, but there was no sign of danger. That could only mean… 

"Uhura, watch Selene for me. Selene, Daddy needs Mommy right now. Stay with Auntie Uhura, OK?"

"OK Mommy, " her daughter told her mother. Serenity closed her eyes, envisioned Spock in her mind,  and teleported straight to him. Immediately she saw the ominous ship outside the glass window, just as Jim yelled. 

"Duck! "
