Chap 9

Dexter
Baba Yaga slowly dissolved into pitch black dust. We watched in silence as a wind no one seemed to feel blew her away.
Then Poppy screamed, falling to her knees and covering her ears with her hands. Cedar did the same. Then Briar which scared Hopper. Poppy then stood up, her expression blank.
"You really didn't think I would let you have all that time, did you?" Sang Nevar through her.
Next was Ceder. "I mean, I'm evil!"
Briar tried to get up but Hopper held her down. "This battle starts when I want it too, Now! You have five minutes" Her laughter echoed through the castle.
"Faybelle" I said.
She nodded. "I'm on it"
She waved her hand and everyone had armor and a weapon.
"Good." I said. "All those with magic, Code Waterfall"
About a dozen kids nodded and put their hands on the wall.
"Aguamenti" they chanted.
The school was in a bubble like shield, almost impossible to breakthrough. My heart beat like a war drum. I need a mirror, I need Raven. Cupid came to stand next to me, crush or no crush she was still my best friend.
"Hey," she whispered. "You ok?"
I shook my head.
"Let's win ok?"
"Ok"
Someone screamed. I knew it too well. My twin sister.
"Darling!" I shouted and ran as fast as I could to her in the next room over.
Darling
I had only heard someone scream my name like that once before. I was eight years old, someone tried to kidnap me. Back then there were two voices. But this was more horrifying. Written on the wall in blood was a message.
There Is A Spy Among You.
At the foot of the wall was Duchess Swan, stirring feebly. Bleeding out her life.
Dexter came in and gasped. So did many others. Then came a terrible cry of anguish.
"No! No Duchess no!" Sparrow broke through the crowd, throwing his beloved guitar to the side.
"Sparrow?" She whispered weakly. "Sparrow?" She sounded lost and alone.
He knelt by her side. Blood stained her dress, her breath ragged and uncertain. She reached up and put a hand on his cheek.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy, when skies are grey. You cannot know dear, how much I loved you-" she sang quietly.
"Please, don't take my sunshine away." Sparrow said.
She reached up and kissed his lips. Then her head fell into his lap, her purple eyes staring up at nothing. Sparrow screamed in pain, sobbing. Everyone took a step back. It was too real for us to handle, we were kids. Kids. And we were dying.
