Chapter 9 - Wyatt's Secret

Emily's POV

The next morning, Saturday

I woke up to the sound of a whistle. Probably from the teachers to signal the students to meet them outside. The sun shone bright already even though it was 7 in the morning. When I decided to get up, the others were already prepared for the day. I walked into the bathroom and took a quick shower. After I finished my daily morning routine, I gathered my things and left the cottage. While I locked the door, I noticed my friends and Wyatt were outside waiting for me. I caught up with them and greeted only my friends.

I don't know why but I have this weird feeling that Wyatt didn't tell us everything. He's hiding something for sure and I will find out what it is. Maybe Tyler knows something about him. He met a lot of strange people, so it could be possible he knows Wyatt too.

"Did I miss something?", I asked the others.

"Not really. Most people are late." Christine told me.

"Great."

When everyone finally arrived around the fireplace, the teachers started to explain what we are going to do for the day. We told Wyatt he should stay inside the cottage until everyone left. Jonas then would go back and get him just in case.

After the trip, back home

The trip was funny except Wyatt. He is so goddamn annoying and has to come with me. Now I have to think about an explanation why he has to stay with me and Mum. I have an idea! I will ask Tyler if he can take care of him. That's what I'm gonna do.

"I know what to do with you."

"And what would that be?"

"I'll ask my brother to protect you.", I said." Somehow his face got pale and je started stuttering.

"N-No. You c-can't do this."

"Why not?"

"I just- I can't stay around him."

"And why?" I asked him clearly annoyed.

"I can't tell you."

"Ugh I don't care what you want. I'll ask him if you like it or not. Deal with it or die."

"I hate you; I hope you know that."

"If you would tell me whats bothering you, I could help you. But you are too stubborn so deal with the consequences. P.S. I already told him."

The look on his face was priceless. He turned away from me so that I couldn't see his face. Is he blushing? Haha now I can tease him a bit.

"Why won't you look at me Wyatt?" He ignored me.

"What's wrong?" Still ignoring. Well then if he wants it this way

"Do you like Tyler?" I asked him with a soft voice to assure him that I won't be mad at him. Honestly, I don't really care if he does. On the other hand, he will never be together with him because he has a girlfriend. Well, it's not my place to tell. He slowly turned his head and looked at me with sad eyes. He seems to know already that he has no chance with him.

"I do. For a long time now to be honest."

Wow. Now I dont know what to say. I want to ask him since when he knows my brother, but I don't want Wyatt to be upset.

"I bet youre wondering why I know Tyler."

"I do, but I don't want to put pressure you."

"It's fine. I told this story what feels like one hundred times already. So, I met him for the first time when he was 15. You both still lived in Kansas, in the same village as I used to. We all attended the same school and even had a few classes together. Tyler and I grew friends pretty fast and around four months later I noticed I felt more for him than friendship. Since then I tried to ignore my feelings and move on, but I couldn't. I didn't want to push him away and hurt him, which is another reason why I can't get over him. I tried so many things, but nothing helps."

I felt sorry for him even though I can't stand him. He doesn't deserve to feel like that.

"How can I help you?" He looked up again and I could see his eyes were glistening. Poor Wyatt. He has no chance with the one he loves for nearly four years. Does Tyler even know how he feels?

"Before you ask, no he doesn't know about my feelings. I was afraid to tell him because I was terrified to see his reaction. If he would have pushed me away, I wouldn't have known what to do."

After he finished the last sentence, tears started to appear at the corner of his eyes. I got closer to Wyatt and comforted him. After a few minutes Wyatt calmed down and told me that he wanted to see Tyler. I'm not sure if it's a good idea but he knows whats best for him.

I tried to reach my brother through the necklace that he gave me before I left. He answered shortly afterwards. I asked Tyler if he was okay with it if I would take Wyatt with me. To my surprise he sounded happy to see him again. We talked for another few minutes before I ended the call.

"Wyatt, Tyler is fine with you coming along. Are you sure youre ready for this?"

"Yes I am. I know I don't have a chance and I have to accept it."

"Come closer to me."

I touched the little diamond on my necklace and spoke a few words. After that, a bright light appeared above our heads and disappeared when we arrived in heaven. We walked through the park directly to the castle. Wyatt seems to be fascinated by basically everything. Like I was when I came here for the first time. We walked up the path to the castles main entrance, and the gate opened. As I expected, Tyler was in my fathers office. I walked up to them, but Wyatt seemed to be hesitant.

"Are you coming?"

"Yeah, I just need a second."

When Wyatt walked up to us, I already greeted the others. Tyler noticed his presence and smiled brightly.

"It's good to see you again Wyatt. I missed you."

After Tyler said that, Wyatt blushed like an idiot. It's kinda cute but my brother doesn't like guys. At least that's what he told me. I need to talk to Tyler about Wyatt because he's too shy to admit his feelings for my brother.

"Tyler, can I talk to you? In private?"

"Of course." We walked a bit away from dad and Wyatt, so they can't hear us.

"What's up?"

"It's about Wyatt. I need to tell you that -"

"That he likes me? I already knew that."

"Wait- You know? Since when?"

"I noticed it when he started flirting with me. But I'm partly to blame too. I bet he didn't tell you everything, so I'll tell you what I did: Back in school I took his attempts as a joke and flirted back. I didn't realize that he was actually falling for me until he asked me out. I declined and told him how I really felt. Of course, it broke his heart, but I couldn't lead him on any longer and give him hope. The problem now is that he can't let me go. By the way, does he know we're in heaven and that I'm dead?"

"Uhm.. I don't think so. Well that's gonna be hard for him."

Tyler and I walked back to our father and Wyatt. I'm kind of terrified of telling him, but someone has to.

"Wyatt, I have to tell you something."

"Okay, what is it?"

"Well, I don't know how to start."

"Just say it already.", He said annoyed.

"We're in heaven right now, which you probably know according to our sourroundings." I said and took a deep breath. "Tyler is here because he died.", I told him in a whisper.

"Are you serious right now?"

"Yes I am. I'm sorry Wyatt. I should have told you before."

His face got very pale. He looked shocked and about to break down. I didn't know what to do, but luckily Tyler noticed it and helped Wyatt.
