Chapter 2 - The Hospital

Tyler's POV

I woke up in a Hospital room all alone. The only Thing I can remember was my sister unconscious next to me. All I could see was her face covered in blood. Christine tried to reach out to Emily to help her. Then I woke up in the Hospital. I don't know where Christine, or more important, my sister Emily is. Outside my room, a few doctors are discussing something. I hardly understood anything as finally I saw someone I knew. I can see mum through the window talking to a doctor.

"Are you Mrs. Watkins?"

"Yes I am. Who are you? And what happened to my children?"

"I'm Dr. Williams. I'm so sorry to tell you this, but there has been a terrible car accident tonight. The man who crashed your children's car is on the run. The Police is trying their best to find him."

"No no no. That can't be true. There must be a big mistake."

"No. I'm afraid not Mrs. Watkins. I'm so sorry."

"Can I at least see them?"

"Only Tyler. Emily is not in a good condition right now. If you go inside Tyler's room don't ask any questions or something that would upset him. His heart is weak and his circulation is unstable."

"Okay. Thank you Dr. Williams."

Mum carefully opened the door and looked at me with a expression on her face I've never before. She looked worried and shocked at the same time. I could feel all her pain when I looked into her eyes. I can't even imagine what she is going through right now. First, she lost her husband, Emily's and my father and now we are in a hospital with life threatening injuries.

"Hi Tyler. How are you feeling?"

"Despite of all this injuries I'm fine. Do you know where Emily is? Is she okay?"

"I'm sorry Tyler. I don't know where she is. All I know is that Christine and Jonas just need a little rest and they will be fine. They were luckier than you and came away with a small concussion."

"At least they are okay. Where is the doctor? I want to know where Emily is."

"I will look for her by myself. I don't want to upset you."

"Okay mum. I can't remember what happened."

"It's okay hon. Don't stress yourself and try to rest. I'll go and look if I can find her."

"Okay mum. I hope she is okay." Mum closed the door with a soft *thud*. Now I'm alone and started thinking again, What the hell happend? What have I done? Is Emily okay? Did I kill her? I thought so much that I got exhausted and drifted off to sleep.

Third person's POV

"Dr. Williams! Please wait! Where is my daughter? I want to see her."

"I'm afraid that won't be possible Mrs. Watkins. She's in a coma. You can't visit her right now. I'm sorry."

"I need to see her!"

"Mrs. Watkins you can't visit her. She's in a very bad condition. We're not sure yet if she will make it."

"No, no, no, please I can't lose her too. Not after what happened to my husband." Mrs. Watkins collapsed on the floor after she heard her daughter might die. Doctors came fast and brought her in a room and laid her on a bed. After a few minutes she woke up.

"What happened?"

"You collapsed on the floor a few minutes ago and were unconscious until know"

"My daughter can't die. She just can't. I couldn't forgive myself if she dies."

"We try our best to save her. We will do anything to Keep her alive."

"Please promise me you will tell me if anything changes."

"I will Mrs Watkins. Now try and get some rest. One of the nurses will check on you later. If you need anything don't hesitate to push the button right next to you."

"I will. Thank you Dr. Williams." Dr. Williams left the room and closed the door behind her. I hope she will make it. She is strong. She can do this. Right?

Tyler's POV

Someone knocked on my door. To be honest it startled me a little, because I was asleep.

"Mr. Watkins?"

"Please call me Tyler."

"Okay Tyler. I need to check your vitals."

"Okay. Can you please tell me where Emily is? Please.." I could feel tears in my eyes when I said her name. While I was asleep I remembered a piece of what happened. It was too painful. The lights of the other car.. The screaming of my sister..

"Tyler? Tyler? You need to calm down. Your heartbeat rate is way too high." I took a few deep breaths to calm myself.

"And the answer to your question is no. You need to stay calm and rest. If you get upset, your heartbeat will increase to a life threatening rate and your heart might stop beating."

"Can you at least tell me if she is still alive?"

"Yes, she is alive."

"Thank god she is alive." A huge weight fell off my chest as she said those words. 'She is alive'. I don't think I could never forgive myself if she died because of me.

"Your vitals look fine but you still need to rest."

"Okay. I'll try to sleep. Thank you Dr. Williams."

"Good night Tyler." She left the room and I fell asleep instantly.

'Tyler? There's a car driving on our lane. It's coming closer!' 'I can't dodge it. It's already too close. Hold on Emily.' 'He's going to crash our car!' 'What's going on?' 'Christine! This car is going to hit us!' I woke up covered in sweat and full of anxiety. I hate those dreams.. Those reminders what I did wrong.. How I could have avoided it all. The accident. The pain I caused everyone. And the worst: Almost killing my sister.

"Doctors! Come fast! Emily's heart stopped! We need to reanimate her!"
