Everything is all fun and games until you're left alone, not knowing what kind of "babysitter" your kidnapper is leaving you with. I rolled my eyes and sighed heavily, finally standing up and pushing the chair in. The house was eerily quiet. I could hear a clock ticking somewhere close by, echoing in the empty entrance of the mansion. I found myself standing in the middle of the room, staring up at the chandelier. I didn't hear Damiar leave, but somehow, I knew that I was alone.
My head slowly lowered, and I gazed longingly at the front doors. If he was going to be gone all night.. maybe I could manipulate his "friend" long enough for me to -
The flutter of wings caught me off guard, and I spun around to come face to face with a male with pale green eyes, longish dyed faded blond hair, and two large light blue wings. My eyes widened to the point they hurt as I stared at him, my mouth open. "Y- I- Huh?" He stumbled over his own words as his wings flapped noisily behind him. He took a step closer to me, but I hastily moved back, tripping over my own feet and falling. My head hit the floor with a loud thump, and it all went black.
I woke up with one hell of a headache, and for a moment, I believed I had dreamed it all up. That was until the same man came into my line of vision, except he had no wings. Did I simply dream that part up then? I groaned as I sat up, and the stranger hurried to help me. "I'm so, so sorry about that," he said as he handed me the frappe that Damiar said he had left me along with four pain pills. "I didn't mean to frighten you like that. I just assumed that -"
"Assumed what?" I half snapped after swallowing the last pill. "That it would be normal for me to see a... a... Oh, I don't fucking know! An angel?" The blond cleared his throat, his eyes glancing away from me as he smoothed his hand through his hair. "Noen..." He muttered. "My name is Noen.. And I wouldn't exactly call myself an angel." He bit at his lower lip as he stood stiffly beside my bed, and I was more intrigued than anything. "Then.." I began softly. "What are you..?"
Noen scrunched up his nose and let out a half-assed laugh. "Tell me, Venus," he started. "You a religious girl?" I furrowed my brows at his question. "Um, if you mean do I believe in God and Lucifer and everything in between then.. Maybe..? I know there's something out there. But I wouldn't call myself religious." Noen nodded and chewed on his nail as he narrowed his eyes at me. And before I knew it, his wings had reappeared behind his back.
This close, I could see that they weren't simply one shade of blue. They reflected ocean blue, sky blue, teal, and were exaggerated with a black undertone. They were slightly longer than he was tall at full length. They were beautiful. "God exists. Lucifer exists. Angels and demons exist. But so do many, many other things." Noen folded his wings behind his back and tugged at his chain necklace. "There are creatures out there that God wanted dead a long time ago. And he succeeded in killing two out of three."
"What happened to the other one..?" I found myself asking. "He escaped God's wrath for so long that God gave up. He left, leaving this world to rip itself apart." My eyebrows shot up. "So God just... Left?" Noen leaned against my bed and nodded once. "A few centuries ago actually. His second in command, Michael, tried to keep Earth and Heaven and Hell under wraps, but even an archangel can't control that many souls. So, he turned to the last abomination that God just couldn't seem to catch up to."
I laughed in disbelief. "You're kidding me. This has to be a joke!" Noen raised a brow at me. "A joke?" He ruffled his wings to prove his point. My cheeks burned slightly in embarrassment. "Okay..." I began. "But why would Michael go to a so called 'abomination' for help?" "Because he's the next best thing to God," Noen muttered. "Hell, he even considers himself to be a god!"
We both paused, and I squinted at him. "And you?" He sighed softly, curling his wings into himself. "Nothing more than a demon I'm afraid," he murmured. "I'm Damiar's half brother." My blood ran cold. "D-Damiar is a demon?!" Noen threw his head back and laughed loudly, the bed shaking with the sheer force of it. "Well," he sniggered as he calmed, "it may certainly seem that way sometimes, but he barely has any demon in him. The part he does have is quite unfortunate for unsuspecting victims."
I softly glared at him. "Care to elaborate?" Noen snorted. "Damn you're impatient. But anyway, the eyes and charm mainly. Incubus demon blood.. Among other things." "What other things?" I growled out. Noen glanced over to me. "Look, he's labeled as an abomination for a reason and I don-" Finally fed up with the guessing game, I lunged at the demon and wrapped my fingers around his throat. He stared up at me in sheer surprise. "Tell. Me. Or I'll rip every single feather out of your pretty little wings."
The blond swallowed, and half smirked at me. "Demon. Faerie. Siren. Angel. Fallen. Now get off of me before I bite you. And trust me, honey. You don't want a demon's venom anywhere near your body." I barely heard him. I stood, letting him sit up, but my mind was elsewhere. "Why didn't he tell me..?" I muttered, staring at the floor. Noen shrugged and glanced at his phone. "Maybe he wanted to toy with you more. He likes playing with his food."
I whipped around to face him. "Excuse me?!" The demon didn't even spare me a glance. "What, you thought you were special? He's brought more people here than I can count. He pampers them and then eats them." I wanted to throw up. The raw horror wrenching in my gut was almost too much to take. But then I remembered. "No..." I whispered unsteadily. "You're.. You're wrong.." Noen hummed, but I ripped his phone out of his hands to gain his attention.
"What the fuck?!" "He said I'm like him!" I all but screamed. "He said that his father thought he and I were both abominations! That the angels are scared of us!"
The room was silent for a long moment before Noen finally stood up and roughly took his phone back. "I don't believe you." And he stormed out of my room, the breeze from his wings slamming my door shut.
