The song is necessary for this chapter, so please listen to it.

I had no idea that we would run directly into another war the very next day. My fur had long since been stained red with the blood of the slaughtered angels - both fallen and not. But there weren't just angels fighting. Oh, no. Damiar knew what he was doing. He had used Kai to get to the gryphons and hippogriffs, both of which willingly gave up their lives for Damiar in a war that was not their own.

Reckless behaviour
Is looking at a man
Like he was a savior.

Blind leading blind.
Everything looks darker
When you close your eyes.
When you close your eyes.

Hundreds of angels were already dead. Among them were Azazel, Uriel, and Lucifer. I found myself cowering down as Yahweh fought Samael in their true forms. It was odd, seeing a lion and a wolf doing battle. My eyes stung with both tears and blood, for not only had I lost my father, but I had also lost my best friend - Noen. I had mourned over his body for as long as I could before Caleb tore me away and out of the path of the war.

Back at the beginning
The beginning of the end.

No one knew where Damiar had found the weapon. Turns out, it was nothing more than a dagger - a meticulously crafted golden dagger inscribed with Enochian. But I had no idea what it said, for I was too busy fighting the army the son of Michael had formed.

The beginning of the end, the end.

It seemed like hours before the bloodshed finally ceased. And I was faced with a wolf pinning down a very large and very unmoving lion. I knew what had happened, and so did everyone else. The angels immediately began to wail in distress as the fallen roared with glee. They had no idea what the death of God truly meant for them.

The beginning of the end.

The dagger in Damiar's mouth dripped golden blood - as golden as the blade itself - and as the wolf shifted into his human form, he licked it free of the liquid. I felt sick, disgusted, as his fingers trailed down the side of my face, and I wanted to spit on him. But I didn't dare. He held the dagger to my throat, and when I swallowed, it left a small cut. "Do you regret it yet?" He whispered, but I didn't speak.

The beginning of the end.

"Answer me!" I flinched away from him, and I answered. "No." His face twisted in fury, and he plunged the dagger into Caleb's stomach. I choked on the air, but I didn't dare move. The angel coughed up a few drops of blood, slowly looking up at me. "I'm sorry," he whispered, before Damiar twisted the dagger and ripped it out. Caleb fell to the ground, joining the piles of dead bodies.

The rise and the fall.
We're descending into madness
The writing's on the wall.

Damiar returned to me, his face an inch from mine. "How about now?" Fresh tears burned my eyes, but I refused to cave. I inhaled through my nose and grit my teeth together. "No." A wicked grin plastered onto Damiar's face, and he smoothed a lock of my hair behind my ear. "You will."

And I did. He held me captive in Heaven. The angels had no choice but to follow his command. And they were forced to watch as the world they were made to protect went up in flames.

Starting a fire
'Cause all you really wanted
Was just to watch the world burn.
So watch it burn.

I didn't believe him when he threatened to burn the world to ash if I didn't profess to my love to him. But he kept his promise, and through the glass windows of the throne room, I saw the smoke choking out the air. The birds were dropping like flies, and I couldn't stop the sobs ripping out of my throat.

The beginning of the end.
The beginning of the end.

I begged him to stop - to spare the Earth. I told him that the humans had done nothing wrong. That they didn't deserve to be punished just because I couldn't say I love you. He simply smiled at me, a cruel glint in his golden eyes. "You're right. It isn't their fault. It's yours."

The beginning of the end.

I forced my way out of the throne room, but he made no move to stop me as I raced out. I shifted into my true form as I raced down the blindingly white hall and flung myself out of the gates. But I was too late. The land was black, fire consuming the last of the structures. The smoke had all but replaced the oxygen, and I couldn't hold back the scream that tore out of my very soul.
