You're the daughter of Lucifer and Lilith, the Prince and Princess of lies, sorrow, adultery, and sin.

I let the words sink in slowly, but they didn't make any sense, no matter how hard I tried to understand. I couldn't be the daughter of two angels. I grew up with my very human parents... I could feel Damiar's patient gaze on me as I carefully worked to pull out as many of the glass particles as I could with a simple pair of tweezers. "Think about it, Venus," he murmured. "That power in the ballroom just now. It -"

"I don't know what happened back there," I butted in. "But it wasn't me. It couldn't have been..." "Venus.." I paused, looking into his gorgeous blue eyes. His hand slowly lifted to my face, giving me time to pull away, but I couldn't tear my gaze away from his. I don't think I'd ever find the strength to fight against him.. I could feel his hot breath fan over my face, and my eyes finally fluttered shut when he fully closed the distance.

Something hot and fervent erupted in the very core of my being, and my hands instantly flew to his hair where they buried themselves, desperate to ground myself against this sudden, exotic emotion. His wings fluttered, and I was being pushed back against his bed, his lips moving against mine in a sloppy frenzy. A hoarse whimper ripped out of my throat, and I, somehow, found the will to push him away.

He hovered above me, his hair wild, breathing harsh, eyes dark. I'm sure I looked similar, but still I forced myself to slide out from under him and press my back against the headboard. "Your wings," I managed to whisper. "I want to make sure I get the rest the glass out.. Plus, I'm sure you must be uncomfortable with all the blood matting your feathers..."

Damiar stared at me for a moment before heaving a sigh and sitting back on his knees, pushing a hand through his disheveled hair. "God, you're so.. Odd," he muttered, almost in exasperation. "You act like you want it, like you want me, but then you just act like nothing happened!" I flinched slightly, curling more into myself. "I don't trust you," I sighed out. "I don't trust you, and I'm new to this, and I don't understand who I am, and -"

"Then let me show you." I slowly lifted my head up to him. "Show me..?" "Yes. Let me show you who you are." I watched him in confusion as he leaned over me once more, trapping me against the headboard with his body. He buried his face in the crook of my neck, and my body stiffened out of instinct. "Damiar?" "Shh.." I felt him breathe in... then out.. And then two sharp fangs pressed dangerously against my skin.

I immediately flew into a panic, desperately trying to break out of his hold, but he caught my gaze, and like a deer caught in headlights, I was paralyzed, trapped in his hypnotic, golden eyes. "I'm not going to hurt you. I'm just going to show you who you were when God was hunting you." "God... Hunted me too?" "For a short time.. Yes. He did." He released me from his gaze, but my body was still strangely lethargic.

I couldn't bring myself to protest when I felt his fangs graze my neck once more. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, but I felt no pain as I drifted off into a trance-like sleep.

"He can't be trusted." I watched as Mother paced the floor, her long, dark red dress fanning out behind her. Her golden wings flapped anxiously, and my father let out an unamused laugh from his spot on his gorgeous throne. "Obviously, Lilith. But what do you expect me to do? He will continue looking for her and that boy until they're both dead." Mother glared at my father, her silvery green eyes narrowing. "Do you still have that witch hand of yours?"

Father scoffed, leaning his head full of golden curls on his hand. "Who, Irina? She's just a sorceress." Mother sighed in frustration and pointed an accusing finger at the male angel. "You are a condescending mutt, Lucifer. Irina knows cloaking spells." Father still didn't seem to really understand until Mother stomped her heel on his foot and he hissed out a yelp. "She can turn Venus human long enough for your damn father to give up!"

Father pouted at her, rubbing his foot. "You're a mean woman." "And you're an ignorant man." Father rolled his eyes and shook his head, standing from his throne and moving to the dark red and light green shrine in the middle of the room. His pure white wings, seemingly iridescent in the light, folded neatly behind him. "But what happens if Michael's boy finds her as a human?" Mother halted her pacing and turned back to her husband, a worried frown settling on her ruby red lips. "Then he'll either protect her or kill her."

My eyes flew open, but I didn't move. Strange pleasure caressed my nerves, and I moaned softly as my body slowly unwound and gave into the feeling. My eyes softly fluttered closed as it shifted slightly, targeting more sensitive parts of my body. I sighed and rested my hand on my chest, only to feel a nest of soft hair instead. I looked down in confusion to see Damiar resting contentedly against me, his ear directly over my heart.

I didn't know if he was awake or not, but I was rather comfortable, and he seemed to be so as well. With what I assumed to be the venom still slightly stirring in my body, I drifted off again, but this time into a more peaceful sleep.
