With a long and heavy sigh, I finally forced myself to crawl out of the bed and attempt to find Noen. I wanted to be pissed at him because he was pissed at me. I had no one to go to about this entire bizarre situation. I just wanted to go back to my small flat in New York and continue studying for my master's in English. This whole circumstance was melting my brain.

I wandered around the hall, putting my ear against each door and listening for any moment. Hearing nothing, I moved on to the small section in the middle of the second floor. It led me to a large window overlooking the lake. The spa room was on the left; what seemed to be a library was on the right. Not knowing where else to look, I stepped into the room filled to the brim with books. I spotted the...demon...in a very comfortable lounge chair, his eyes narrowing skeptically at whatever he was reading.

I cleared my throat, but he did not react. "I knew you there," he muttered. "I can sense where you are in this house at any time." His light green eyes snapped up to me. "So don't even think about running." I gulped and nodded meekly, moving a few steps away from him and towards the nearest shelf stocked with books of all shapes and sizes. "Not to rude but..." I bit my lip and nervously glanced over to him.

He looked up, his finger on the page that he was reading. "What can you do...?" He looked at me strangely. "You mean.. What can demons do?" The word sent a cold shiver down my spine. "Yes.." Noen smirked somewhat and leaned up to pat the chair across from him. Without giving it much thought, I sat in it. He sighed as he set aside the book in his hands, and he looked at me similarly to how Damiar looked at me only yesterday - like I was a specimen under the scrutiny of the scientists who captured it.

"I didn't believe you at first," Noen began, and I perked up slightly. "The sons of the archangels were supposed to have been killed off a long time ago, but it looks like your dad did a pretty damn good job in keeping your power under wraps." I was already beyond confused, and Noen must have known that. "Let me put it this way. Angels aren't supposed to mix with other beings. They protect humans. It's what they do. They follow orders. That's it."

"So they're like... Robots..?" "Well, yes and no. They're sociopathic. They feel absolutely nothing. But if an angel were to suddenly feel any type of human emotion, they would be cast to earth." "Fallen angels...." "Exactly. But then they would turn on both humans and angels alike, devolving into something cruel and barbaric. They rip the souls from human bodies and turn them into things like.." "Demons."

I exhaled harshly, my mind spinning. "Okay.. Then what about Damiar?" Noen winced slightly and gave me a half smile. "He's the son of the Archangel Michael and a fallen he calls 'Darling'. I don't know her real name. Michael, at first, found peace with his son and wanted to train him up like an angel, since that kind of power could be put to seriously good use. But Damiar was too stubborn for his own good and decided that he wanted to be more fallen than anything. He killed hundreds of creatures, running from God and strengthening his powers."

My nails were digging into my palms almost hard enough to draw blood. "So where do I fit in in all of this?" Noen blew out a breath of air. "There are four archangels. Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Lucifer. God thought only three had forbidden children with a fallen, but he was wrong." Noen locked our gazes together. "Lucifer kept his kid well hidden in plain sight. And when God left, Damiar and Lucifer both started on a hunt for you. Damiar just happened to find you first."

"Wait wait wait, that can't be true because I have a shit ton of baby pictures with my mom and human dad. Not only that, I don't have any kind of powers. I think I'd know it if I did." "Well, that's the thing." Noen raked his hand through his hair and plopped back on the chair. "He suppressed your soul. That means that only he or Damiar can wake the real you up." "The real me?" I repeated in disbelief. "Don't tell me I'll turn into a hot headed bastard too."

The demon chuckled and shook his head. "You're the daughter of Lucifer and Lilith. Who knows what you're actually like?" I furrowed my brows and clasped my hands together in my lap. "Why would God want us dead..?" I asked quietly. "I thought he was supposed to look out for everyone, even things like... Me and Damiar?" Noen snorted as he picked up his book and stood, moving to place it back on the shelf. "Trust me, Venus. God was never on your side."
