A Magic Moment

Liam had been acting strangely for a few days, and I was beginning to think something was up. Whenever I tried to talk to him about us, he changed the subject. Whenever I tried to walk into his room, he stopped me. Whenever I tried to go outside with him, he told me to stay home. Every time, he’d find an excuse, and I’d have to believe him. Liam just wasn’t talking to me anymore. If I asked him about it, he’d just smile and say that nothing was wrong. I decided to find out what was up.

I walked up to Liam’s room and stood outside the door, listening for any noises. I heard him talking in a low tone, but I couldn’t make out the words. “Liam?” I called.

He immediately stopped talking. “What is it, (Y/N)?”

“What are you saying?” I opened the door, but he caught it and held it.

“Nothing, babe. Nothing at all. Just talking to myself.”

“I see that. Talking about what?” I intended to pry it out of him.

“Just… uh, random stuff.” He shrugged like it was no big deal.

I put my hands on my hips. “Liam James Payne, you better answer me right now!”

“Nothing, babe! Really!” He smiled and kissed me. I didn’t know how to continue, so I walked away and returned to my room.

I shook my head. “Not talking to me? Won’t let me go in his room? Won’t tell me what he’s saying? What is he hiding?” I asked myself. My heart started racing. “Is he ch…” I couldn’t bring myself to say it. I couldn’t at all. I couldn’t even bear the thought of it. “No, it can’t be true. Liam would never do that.” But still, I felt a pang of doubt in my heart. I decided to confront him in front of the boys, so he couldn’t run away.

“Hey, lads!” the boys greeted each other when they met up.

I walked up to them silently, unwilling to speak. I kept a straight face and stood next to Liam, trying to make eye contact. He avoided all my attempts. Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore. “Liam! Why won’t you talk to me?!” I said with a sudden outburst.

He looked at me, surprised. “Wh-what do you mean? I talk to you every day!”

I shook my head. “I know something’s up! You won’t let me in your room, you won’t tell me what you’re talking to yourself about, you won’t let me go outside with you, and you won’t even talk about… us!” I stopped to give him a chance to speak. He didn’t say anything. I shook my head and continued, “If something’s up you need to tell me. You can’t just leave me here in the dark, Liam. I deserve to know what’s going on. I mean… don’t you care about how I feel? Unless…” I stopped and backed away from him. “Unless you really don’t care anymore…”

“No, babe, I DO care! What are you talking about?!” he asked. Liam reached out for me, but I didn’t let him hug me.

“If you care, you’d tell me what’s happening.” I looked at all the boys. ALL of them avoided eye contact with me too. “If none of you will tell me, then I’m done with this relationship.” I looked at Liam. “How can you act like everything is alright like this?”

“Well, actually…” Liam walked over to me and said, “I don’t let you come in my room because of surprises I’m working on for you. I don’t let you know what I’m talking about because I’m rehearsing something special in my head for you. I don’t let you go outside with me because I’m getting stuff for you. And I won’t let you talk about us because…” He stopped and took a knee.

“Oh, Liam, you--!” Tears sprang to my eyes.

“I wanted to wait until now to continue. Will you marry me, (Y/N)?” Liam looked up at me with hopeful eyes as I struggled to reply.

I took my hands away from my face and threw them around his neck. “Yes, Liam. Yes, I will marry you.”

Liam pulled away and kissed me. “I’m sorry I made you so apprehensive, babe. I never meant to make you feel uncomfortable. But it was all part of the plan.” I smiled to myself. “I love you, (Y/N).”

“I love you too, Liam.”

Hope you liked it!!
