[You know feeling you get when you don't have to get up for a long time when you're on a long car trip? Well, I'm on a three day drive :D. This is going to pick right up where it left off. Thank you to anyone who is still reading. I am trying very hard to make this good. Please feel free to comment if you have any suggestions. Please let me know what you think, if you honestly like it (love it? *crosses fingers*), think it needs work, or needs a lot of work. It is really important what you think and I want to thank anyone who has respond to these messages. Song: Slowly Freaking Out | Artist: Skylar Grey (Holly Brook) | Album: The Host soundtrack | Genre: Pop, Alternative ]

"Go to sleep, (yourname).", Sebastian said coldly, as he walked out of your room closing the door behind him. You were left alone in the dark, with only the faint moonlight to offer any clarity. Anger quickly boiled up inside of you. How did he think that he could possibly treat you like that? You got up and threw the door open. You looked into the hall and saw him at the end of it. Balling your fists, you ran after him. He turned to look at you clearly annoyed you hadn't listened, and for once, you didn't care. Your whole life you had been forced to listen to everyone else, to do as they said, just because you had been born into the lower wrung of society. You didn't have any money, no, but you did have, if just a shred, of dignity in you that just couldn't bear being trampled upon any longer.

"Why? Why do you keep doing this? One minute it's like you want me to believe one thing before letting me run face first into a brick wall that I didn't know was there. I don't understand, I'm only human.", you said. You didn't feel anything at first, but soon it was like a massive weight being lifted off your chest. You could finally breathe easily.

"You're a defiant one, aren't you? At least you know your limits. All too many of your kind don't.", he said more to himself.

"You didn't answer me.", you said crossing your arms. He chuckled at your behavior.

"I apologize, my lady. I often forget how easily mislead humans can be.", he said. You knew immediately he wasn't telling the truth. You knew he could manipulate humans easily and often used it to his advantage. In order to do that, he would have to understand their reasoning. There was no way what he said was true.

"You're lying.", you retaliated. He smirked, impressed how you could so easily decipher the truth.

"Perhaps I was wrong. Maybe some humans aren't as easy to mislead as others.", he said gently. It hit you that, for once, he was genuinely apologizing. Well, it was probably as genuine as a demon would ever be. It was enough to make your breath hitch as you stared at him, searching for any hint of sarcasm in his statement. You, of course, found none and he continued, slightly reluctantly.

"I don't understand, myself. Your soul is different from the others. It is so pure and yet...there is a darkness that envelopes it. Something like this is so foreign to me...I don't know what to think.", he admitted, not meeting your eye. You didn't say anything, you simply watched him not understanding what he meant. After what seemed like an eternity, you spoke.

"You know, we could be friends.", you said quietly.

"Friends", he repeated, like a joke,"If you truly understood what I am, then you would never offer the ridiculous concept you call 'friends'."

"Oh? And why is that? Why don't you explain?", you questioned. His eyes turned pink and stayed that way and a sort of darkness fell over the room. You, however, didn't falter in the slightest. After everything that had happened, you realized he didn't scare you. Not at all.

"I have killed countless numbers of people without a second thought. I could kill you just as easily. I care nothing for humanity and as far as loyalty, I have none other than to serve my master until the day I get his soul.", he threatened. You smiled darkly.
