Eren's POV
Since we were rounding to the end of the week, Mom allowed me to invite Armin for the night. As usual, Dad was stuck at the hospital so he wouldn't be home for awhile. And Mom was very open to have Armin around. Says that it's a good change of pace. Either way, we were having dinner together when Mom's phone began to ring.
"Hello?" Was her usual greeting. If it was Dad, she would've been more like: "Yes dear?" Ugh... thinking about it... that's a bit weird... and disgusting. "Oh? Is that so? Erm... he's eating at the moment... uh huh... okay. I'll have Eren call you later then." Mom hung up, chuckling a bit.
"What was that?"
"Well... I believe it was your classmate... Sasha. She says you owe her food...? Eren, explain to me what that means."
I groaned, shaking my head. "The... the other day... I ran into her and dropped her food. But now... she's demanding I pay her back- by giving her more food than what I originally should've owed... I don't understand it at all..."
Mom nodded her head with a heavy sigh. "I see then..."
"Mom! It's not my fault!"
She begins to chuckle, holding her stomach as she laughed. Her bright eyes were covered with tears. "I know," she had struggled to say, "I know it's not your fault. But... why? Why is she demanding it like it was her baby, Eren?"
"Sasha tends to hog all the food- a food addict, I say!"
Mom continues to chuckle more, and we continued our dinner. It was meant to be a happy night... but...
"What?! Grisha..." Mom was saying with a surprised face. Armin and I were busy playing a few board games before bed- Mom was supervising. "Please be safe..."
I tilted my head, gently elbowing Armin. "What's wrong with Dad? Mom?"
Almost like she had collapsed onto her knees, she looked at me with... a confusing look. Like she wanted to keep me smiling, but couldn't find a good way of telling me. I've never seen Mom like that before... it was... strange...
"Mom?"
"Y-Your father needs to stay home even later..."
"Did he give a reason?" I grumbled a bit, knowing that he almost never comes home when I had friends over. It always felt like he always wanted to avoid me and my friends. Always wanting to be near my mom. It makes sense... but it doesn't at the same time. "Or is he just taking up more overtime?"
Mom took a few minutes. "Eren... he's told to work on a young girl... because she came in... close to death..."
"Someone got hurt...?"
"I think so... maybe when he comes home tomorrow morning... you can ask him. I can't ask him for details for that..."
I nodded my head, giving a slow answer. A bit disappointed, but a bit confused. "Okay, Mom... I'll ask if he comes home tomorrow. I honestly doubt that. But... I am curious..."

Mikasa's POV
As I breathed out, I could see my icy, cold breath disappearing into the air. I should've been freezing... especially with all that blood on me. But... it remained a bit warm. Uncle Levi and Aunt Hanji would be asleep... but... once the news have gotten out... I can't escape it anymore. This... this is who I am... and there's nothing to get in my way anymore.
