Hanji's POV

"You should sleep, Hanji." Levi called out to me after I settled Eren in the basement. He was still uncomfortable sleeping near Mikasa- which I completely understood. When it was Levi... I was scared he would hurt me... but he willingly stayed away until I was comfortable. Mikasa, on the other hand, wasn't like that. "You're stressing out- I can tell." He sighed heavily, tugging me into the bedroom. "It's that Jaeger brat-"

"You're not helping." I scoffed, walking into the kitchen and plopping onto a chair. "Levi... they know... about December 2nd... what if-"

"They won't know." Levi began to reassure me, but it wouldn't let this gaping hole from heart heal. I knew that... if he gets loose... all chaos would follow him. "I will ensure that they won't ever know. If they take you away from me- then-"

In the middle of the talk, the doorbell rang and echoed in the house. Once the noise died down, a growl arose. I turned to the growl, seeing it was Levi making the noise. A scowl plastered onto his face as he looked at the door.

"Stay here." He said sternly, walking towards the door. If anything... it could've been the police- or worse. He opened the door, and I could hear him say, "What do you want?"

That's when I heard those familiar voices. "May we talk to your wife? In private, Mr. Ackerman."

"No, I refuse." Levi said, closing the door on their faces- yet the agents refused to accept what he said. "Leave my house. I don't need to deal with this tonight-"

"We can arrest you for not cooperating within our investigation. Let us talk to your wife. Unless you rather be left in the police station for the night. Your pregnant wife would stay home with your niece. You wouldn't want that, do you?"

I got up after hearing that- trying to stop Levi from attacking them. One day, it would happen. This would be the day I would prevent it. A smile grew on my face as I pushed Levi out of the way. "Sorry about him- he's a bit grumpy about the day. You know- teens are rebellious here... hehe..."

Agent Ritchard nodded her head, stepping to the side. "Let's talk outside. Quiet and isolated."

"Of course, of course."

Just as I was walking out, Levi quickly grabbed my arm, pulling me into him. His voice lowered as his eyes remained on those two agents. "Don't go with them... I don't trust them."

"If I don't, you'll be taken away from me. What do you prefer? Me going to them or you leaving me? Don't forget, I'm going to have your baby. Your baby. And to see that we don't have another incident... let me go... you can watch me- I won't leave."

He reluctantly lets me go, walking inside. But I knew he was gonna pop up in a window. Just him watching over all of us. I sighed heavily, knowing there isn't true freedom with being with Levi... but knowing that I can have freedom to be happy, I'll accept that.

"You needed to speak to me?" My hands continued to shake when I strayed onto the yard with him. "What's going on?"

Agent Lopaz gave a sigh when he looked into my eyes. "We need to take you into the station- for your safety."

"My safety? What's going on?"

Agent Ritchard pushed Lopaz a bit when she spoke. "We took a look at the hospital records... and it doesn't seem like it was an accident. Even though you spoke of it as an accident, it seems that it wasn't that way. From where we stand... your husband stabbed you and you covered for him."

"W-What?!"

"His history with violence also helps support this theory." She says, reaching out for my shoulder. "Stay at the station tonight. We'll investigate him-"

"Investigate? He's my husband. I have a niece to-"

"You're protecting all of them, huh?" Agent Ritchard shook her head with a heavy sigh. "We've figured it out... somewhat. You know- someone disappeared around December 2nd. Last seen on the first- reported missing on the 3rd. What raised more questions about this was the fact that his brother was attending the same school as you- who was killed."

My shoulders shuddered when I heard about that. Pieces were finally being put together... and my family...

"We dug more into the Ackerman family- how much murders loved to surround your family. Yes, you are not directly part of that family- but you are married to a pure-born Ackerman boy and having a pure-born Ackerman child. Do you want to protect those two murderers in your house? Or protect the innocent boy and your unborn child?"

"I-I..." I sighed, feeling separated in my mind. "I want to protect them all-"

"Why do you want to protect them?" Agent Ritchard said as her partner tried to stop her. But he was unsuccessful- as Agent Ritchard continued to step forward. "Your husband killed young men- young men who had potential in their lives. All for you? And what of your niece? You covered for her when she killed Sasha... and you rescued her when she made her mistake of those bullies."

"Enough-"

"I won't stop- because you can be held responsible. I can testify to the court that you helped in this case- and you can walk freely. Walk freely with your child unharmed and that boy wouldn't live with the consequences with his girlfriend. Hanji Ackerman, please- think for them."

I didn't need a few minutes to think it over. I knew it. I knew exactly what to say. I didn't get this far of protecting them just to betray them. I was safe with them by my side... never afraid to know I would ever be in danger. This... this was the right choice. If I were to get punished-

"Mrs. Ackerman... listen to me-"

"No." A firm, stern confidence soon began to build up in me. "You listen to me. Exposing those two will be nothing but chaos. Take me away from Levi, and you'll be in danger. Trust me- please."

Agent Ritchard nodded her head, sighing and elbowing her partner. "You heard her, Lopaz."

The other agent nodded his head and walked towards me as he pulled handcuffs out of his back pocket. "Hanji Ackerman, you're hereby arrested for second degree murder. You have the right to remain silent-" When I heard him speak, my hands were being pulled back behind me as the cold metal touched my skin. As much as I wanted to bawl my eyes out... I knew I was doing the right thing for my family.

Agent Lopaz began to lead me into the car as he continued speaking.

"Leave her alone!" What I heard next was expected. I tried to warn them... I tried to... "Leave her the hell alone!"

Facing Levi, I saw him wielding a knife. Murder. Attempting to call him out- I was too late. The knife already dug into the male agent's shoulder and the shrieking cry filled the late night. No doubt, it awoke the young ones. I saw them swarming out with worry in their eyes. Too much chaos for me... what happened... to all of us...?
