Ignore that the couple ship is from Adventure time, this is the song I used for the end of this chapter.

"A science expo?" Artemis looked up at the sign Cassandra was helping hang up, this was what he had drug her all the way here for?
"Who's ready for the expo?!" the lady-in-waiting sighed in exasperation, "Hey, Hey Cassi, wanna see my newest invention? Rumor has it, it is a shoe in for first prize in the contest."
"You started the rumor..." Artemis sighed, he had been going on about cass for the last few days, she chalked it up to him having a crush on the older woman but knowing Cass she would put out the flame really quick.
"Oh, hey Varian. First off, it's Cass, not Cassi. Secondly, I'm slammed, so..."
"Oh yeah, yeah I hear ya. So, did I tell you that my invention can create an entirely new element." The blonde teen next him rolled her eyes and took his moment of forlorn distraction as chance to slip away.
Since the Challenge of the brave he had been smothering her, following her around like a spelled lover or something. She had tripped the other day and he had acted like it was the end of the world. It was driving her insane, so sneaking away from him was a happy reprieve.
Turning the corner into the market square she scanned the shops, browsing the new selections from the windows.
"Artemis, what brings one of Corona's bravest to the main city?" She looked over to see Monty waving her over,
"Not much, Varian dragged me along so I could see him at the Expo. He wants to impress Cass, he's got a crush on her. I'm just glad he's distracted; he's been at my side constantly since the challenge of the brave and I need a break."
"Well, come on in, have a look around. If you find anything you want, I'll give you a discount." he ushered the teen into the store. She emerged maybe 30 minutes later with a bag of chocolate covered raisins and something she thought Varian would really like, it looked like a fruit disk but when you chewed on it, it turned into gum, she had been intrigued by it so she bought a small bag.
"Thank you, Monty."
"Not a problem, Artemis. Come back anytime." He waved her off as she headed back down the cobbled street towards the piers.

"Hey Cass, not Cassi. We didn't finish our conversation from earlier."
"I did." Varian's attempt at charming the Lady-in-waiting was going south rather fast, he chuckled as she brushed him off again,
"Oh-ho, you. Seriously, I'm getting ready for the expo and I think you'll be pretty impressed with my invention, yeah, the only thing is, when I present it to Master doctor St. Croix, it's gonna take two people to operate it." He smiled at the woman as she carried on her cleaning duties.
"Hey! Wanna be the assistant for my demonstration?" she was working on filling the guest beverages when he asked.
"Assistant, what? N-No, look" she over filled one of the glasses and panicked "No! I can't catch a break today." He fished a fial from his apron, sprinkled a few flakes of whatever was in it onto the table, added a drop of water from the flower In the vase and the stain vanished, just as Cassandra came back.
"Varian, thanks for stopping by but I— What...The stain is gone, but how?!"
"Oh simple, grapes are acidic, by combining the alkalinity from the flowers, barley grass and rock salt I was able to stop the stains adhesion. Alchemy."
