"Varian!" The alchemist jumped as the door to his lab flew open, "Come on. I need to show you something!" He quirked a brow at the sudden urgency but set what he was working on down.

"I'm coming." She hurried back out the door, the slightly sleep deprived teen following her as she darted towards one of the large rock clusters.

"Okay, Okay, watch this..." She reached out a hand towards the rocks and it started to shrink back into the ground, "Super cool, right? But just wait!" she focused her attention and where one had disappeared, three more took it's place. Varian watched with utter shock and interest.

"Ho-How...How are you doing that?" She smiled, turning to him with one eye glowing, "I don't know really, I just kind of...do it."

"That's just...It's...wow!" she stared at the rocks for a few moments before sighing, "It's great that I figured it out...but it's too bad it wasn't sooner."

"Hey, no sad faces." He took her hand in his, "We'll get even."

"I know."

"Hello Corona, something dark is coming for you. Our king has refused to acknowledge it, in hopes of keeping his secret he has lied to you and vilified me."

"Captain, get more men."

"On it sir." Artemis stood just out of view as more fog poured into the palace courtyard.

"Three details are on their way from the west wing."

"In a matter of days, corona, this island and the castle itself will be overcome by this growth. It has already overtaken the outskirts of the kingdom. The key to stopping this destruction is princess Rapunzel herself. We have asked for help and been ignored. We will not be ignored any longer and to make sure we have your attention, we have developed a new serum and created something special, for you all." Artemis let go of Rudiger, Varian had certainly come through on this.

"Uh, guys...there's something in the fog."

While Rapunzel and the others were busy Varian Sent Artemis off, he wanted to make sure she stayed out of harms way, despite her protests she could handle herself.

"Varian..." he gave her hand a firm squeeze, "I know you can handle yourself, but what I'm going to do..." He paused, looking at the ground, "I don't want you to be a suspect."

"I'll see you back home." She gave him a soft smile, placing her hand on his cheek before running off towards the outskirts.

"You took the queen?!" Artemis stared at the brunette in absolute horror.

"Of course, it's basic chess...you take out all of the pawns, rooks, and knights then you capture the queen." She mulled over his words but smiled, "So that was your play, you took the kings Queen and in turn force him to face what he's been ignoring all along."

"Exactly, and don't worry, your majesty, you are merely bait to lure the princess here. Only the magic of her unbreakable hair can shatter the amber and free my father. we tried asking for help in a civil manner and we were denied by everyone in Corona. So, unfortunately, this is my only remaining recourse." Arianna turned to Artemis,

"Don't look to me for sympathy, your majesty," Venom dripped from each word as she approached the queen "Because of your husband's negligent decision, my mother is dead. Your kingdom made its choice. Now, we're making ours." Varian pulled the tarp off his father, showing the queen exactly what kind of damage had been done.
