"Mr. Jones, please swear in the jury" the judge says
"Please raise your right hand. Do you solemnly swear or affirm that you will truly listen to this case and render a true verdict and a fair sentence as to this defendant?" The bailiff asks. The jury says "I do" "You may be seated" The bailiff then says
"Members of the jury, your duty today will be to determine whether the defendant is guilty or not guilty based only on facts and evidence provided in this case. The prosecution has the burden of proving the guilt of the defendant beyond a reasonable doubt. This burden remains on the prosecution through the trial. The prosecution must prove that a crime was committed and that the defendant is the person who committed the crime. However, if you are not satisfied of the defendant's guilt to that extent, then reasonable doubt exists and the defendant must be found not guilty." The judge says
i look over at billie to see that she is nervously tapping her foot. I put my hand on her thigh and look at her face. She looks at me and then sits up more in her seat.
"Mr. Jones, what is today's case?" the judge asks
"Your Honor, todays case is Dlamini versus Henderson." the bailiff says
"Are the prosecuting attorneys ready?"
My attorney stands up (Sarah Dean)
"Yes your Honor" Sarah says and then sits back down
"Is the defense ready?" the judge asks
The defense attorney stands up (Joseph Pines)
"Yes your Honor" he says and then sits down again
"Your Honor, members of the jury, my name is Sarah Dean and I and my classmates are representing Amala Dlamini in today's case." My attorney says "We intend to prove Joshua Henderson guilty of 3 charges. Those charges are attempted murder with a blade of 6in or more, sexual assault, and abduction." Sarah says
"Prosecution, you may call your first witness" the judge says
I see billie tense up in her seat at that statement.
"Your Honor, I call to the stand Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell"
"must they use my full name" i hear billie whisper to me as she stands up
"Will the witness please be sworn in by the Bailiff" the judge says
The judge walks up to billie
"Please raise your right hand. Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?" the bailiff asks billie
"I do" billie says
Billie walks to the stand and sits down. I could see the anger and nervousness in her eyes and face.
"Prosecutor, please stand and ask your questions" the judge commands
"Billie, when you arrived at the scene, what did you see? What was going on when you arrived?" My attorney asks billie
"Before I arrived at the scene, i was running down a hallway on the ship of my school. Before I found Amala, I heard her scream for help. When I arrived I saw Henderson trying to take Amala against her will. To go into more detail-" billie says angrily while looking at Joshua "-Henderson was dragging Amala by her ankles trying to get her back inside of the suite. I remember there being blood on the floor from when Henderson literally sliced open her hip all the way down to her knee. Once Henderson saw the security he ran in the other direction. After he left, the security ran after him and i don't know what happened to him after that but i ran up to Amala to see what the hell happened. She had on a big baggy shirt with nothing under it." billie says bluntly and it looks like she is about to cry
