"There is some kind of a sweet innocence in being human—in not having to be just happy or just sad—in the nature of being able to be both broken and whole, at the same time."

"Count" my father demanded as he hit me with a bat lined with silver spikes that imbedded into my skin on each hit.
I tripped while walking near him and he took it as a sign of disrespect.
He whacked me in the stomach with the bat, hard, puncturing holes all over my stomach and creating a ton of bruising.
"One."
Hit hit me on my back.
"Two"
He moved to my shoulders
"Three."
...
"Forty Five." I barely got that one out, my body shaking in pain, darkness threatening to take over. I looked up with all the energy that I could gather to find Prince Jacob staring down at me with hatred.
"I Prince Jacob Kaden Lunar of the werewolves reject you Ellie Green."
My entire body felt like it was on fire as I experienced a pain equivalent to what I just suffered but in my heart as I felt it shatter.
"Wh-why?"
I passed out. I woke up to see Dr Hanning, Jen, Heeler, Jack and Chris standing over me.
Dr Hanning approached me first. "You're dying. This world will finally be rid of you in just 12 months."
Next Jen approached, "Goodbye, Ellie. I'm finally escaping you. Don't contact me." she said before walking away. I wanted to protest but I was paralyzed, completely unable to move or speak. I just watched her walk away.
Next thing I knew Jasmine and and Jade were standing there.
I smiled at them but they just attacked me, hitting me over and over while I was incapable of moving.
They finally stopped and I still smiled at them. Its ok, I deserved that. I deserved all of this.
Next Sarah appeared. I smiled at her but she fell to the ground in pain. I looked at her, concerned and shocked then Heeler turned to me. Everyone left the room as Heeler grabbed me by the neck and threw me across the room.
He stood over me and proceeded to kick me. "Get away you piece of dying shit. You're a bitch and I hope I never see you again. Stay away from me and Sarah." He then spat on me and joined the others.
