Amen and Serqet were neighbors.
His door was across from hers in the apartment building.
And their first meeting was anything but pleasant.
To say that they had a rough start wasn't even a way to describe it.
When she first moved in, he had bumped into her, causing her to drop the box she was carrying, and being the royal asshole he was back then, he didn't even bother to help her.
The next day, Serqet purposefully spilled coffee on him to get back on him.
It became a series of cruel pranks that went on for several months, and even Amen's friends - Devotee and his group - joined on in once in a while.
A particular prank that took it way too far changed everything, prompting Amen to apologize.
That happened three years ago.
Now, the two of them were the best of friends.
They became so close that Amen developed feelings for the sarcastic, witty girl, but he never would imagine that she might return his feelings.
He then met Alyxandria, and he thought he could move on from Serqet.
When he started dating Alyxandria, his feelings for his best friend faded away slightly, but they truly never died out.
And when Alyxandria dumped him three months later, he was surprised and wasn't at the same time. He always imagined that it wouldn't last long.
It didn't bother him as much anymore, but in three weeks, it would be Devotee and Poison's wedding.
And he didn't have a date.
He certainly did not want to go alone; after a three month relationship, no matter how close he was with his friends, he did not want to be humiliated.
At this point, there was really one person he could ask.
He was sure she would say yes.
"No."
Amen's eyes widened and he practically pouted, but Serqet's stern look did not break.
Amen shifted and flopped on the couch, his right arm hanging off the ledge while his head rested on the pillow situated on the armrest.
"Why not?" he asked pathetically, turning his head to keep looking at Serqet.
She rolled her eyes. "I don't roll like that. I'm going alone to the wedding as well. I'm not sure how this seems like a big deal."
Amen whined softly, encouraging the tanned girl to roll her eyes once more.
"But I'll never hear the end of it from Dev and Poi, or any of the others, but particularly those two. And Ed, oh my God- please, Ser?"
The dear old lady, Edgar, who lived a few doors down their hallway, had grown very close to the two over the years as well. Amen honestly saw her as a mother figure.
Serqet ran a hand through her messy hair and leaned back on the sofa across from the one he was laying on, placing and crossing her legs on the coffee table before her.
"I'm sure you can survive one day of loneliness," she huffed.
Amen twisted his body to completely face her, shifting to settle more comfortably on the cushions.
"Pleaseeeeee?"
Hopefully his puppy dog eyes were working.
Something flashed over Serqet's facial features and she sighed loudly whilst dragging her hand over her face; he repressed a smirk from showing.
