You know, when his father had told him that in order to climb to the top of his financial handling and lawyer business, he needed to make his own money since he wasn't going to hand him the highest job like a meal on a fancy platter, Devotee was prepared to do anything.

Anything.

Unfortunately, the only job he had managed to obtain was at a mattress store.

Yep. You heard correctly.

Devotee Erton - one of the heirs to one of the most known businesses in the world - worked at a mattress store.

Quite frankly, he had chosen a good store in the outskirts of LA, where he wouldn't be recognized - he was sort of famous after all.

He would only be working here temporarily anyway.

Begrudgingly, he had put in a good word for his brother when he applied for the job as well.

Though the first weeks had been tough; he wasn't used to such a... middle class environment, he found himself at ease with the job.

He had even made friends with his coworkers.

Escapee provided the occasional banter, Jasper always offered him help even if he didn't need it, and Cryptic usually flirted with him but he didn't really mind; he appreciated their company over the long hours of work.

Today was one of his late shifts - he always questioned why late shifts were a thing at a mattress store; he doubted anyone would buy a bed so late - and he dreaded it.

There were several customers still roaming the store but he doubted that anyone would buy anything.

Escapee was leaning against the large counter cashier, smirking smugly at him.

"Oh, what a shame. I have to clock out soon because guess what? My shift's almost over."

Devotee rolled his eyes at his brother's statement as he fixed his uniform, and he then leaned on the counter as well.

"Esc, will you shut up already?" he groaned in irritation. "It's not like you're doing anything exciting once your shift's over."

Escapee opened his mouth open to say something but Devotee cut him off again, smirking. "Unless you finally scored that date with Jas."

Escapee turned red, obviously flustered.

"No, I haven't," he admitted nonetheless, his answer an ashamed mumble.

Escapee had been pining after the shy Jasper who unfortunately had eyes for Cryptic, who had eyes for Devotee.

"Hah. You're hopeless, brother," Devotee snickered at him. "Utterly hopeless."

Escapee scowled greatly, his blush fading away slightly but now creeping down his neck. "It's obvious that Cryp is interested in you, not him," he grumbled.

"Love makes everyone blind, brother," Devotee commented, a hint of smug teasing still in his voice.

"I'm pretty sure he just likes her. It's not technically love," Escapee grumbled again, crossing his arms.

Devotee rolled his eyes. "Whatever. Whatever it is, it still doesn't change the fact that you're jealous."

The blush started returning Escapee's checks again and he sent a deathly glare at Devotee.

"I am not-

He inhaled sharply to collect himself, reluctantly admitting again, "Okay, fine. Yes, I am jealous."
