It was bound to happen due to the... *gestures to world* Anyway, this AU is set where Emperor sends series of threats and the hero(es?) always manage to beat him. Like a tv series, lol.

Demonic viruses were the worst.

Not because the virus was highly contagious, not because the virus was created by the one and only Emperor, not because the virus exposed victims' souls to possession by demons/demonic presences.

No, it was because it - like most, unknown, contagious viruses - required those who were supposedly infected with it to be quarantined.

And so, this is how they ended up here. In one of the lowest parts of Oversee's tower, secluded in a large area surrounded by powerful magic to ensure they wouldn't be able to exit the level.

Demonic viruses were the worst.

Amen was laying on his back, wings somehow folded at his sides with his neck craned slightly forward to see as he repeatedly threw ball up into the air, letting it fall back down, only for him to throw it back up again.

"I told you," Amen mused. "It was a mistake going on that patrol. Emperor always finds a new trick up his sleeve as soon as we defeat one of his charades."

Serqet was sitting beside him on her haunches so she could flip through a book casually, her tail twined around Amen's.

"I take no part of this conversation," she muttered somewhat absentmindedly, turning her page.

"Well," Devotee started, on the other side of the room, across from Amen and Serqet. "We had to do something. Emperor was going to do something sooner or later, like always."

Poison slid up beside her mate, having just came from the other room.

"I bet the kids are worried sick, so I asked a guard to fetch them so they could see us," she told Devotee, sitting down beside him.

Devotee smiled at her lovingly.

"That's good," he commented, draping a wing over her.

Amen caught the ball, dropping his arm as soon as his claws were wrapped around it, and he leaned his head all the way back to lightly glare at the two.

"Hey, hey! We're all contaminated here; I don't think y'all should act all lovey-dovey," he pointed.

Devotee rolled his eye.

"That's why we're all quarantined. Together. Since we all supposedly have the virus. I don't think it's such a crime if I cuddle with my flower."

Before Amen could pretend to gag, Devotee smirked and snickered, "Besides, I think you're just jealous since your sphinx isn't paying attention to you."

Serqet turned her page of her book again, saying, "If you address me by something other than my name - oh wait, hearing you say my name is sickening itself - expect to lose the other eye."

Devotee snorted. "What if I'm complimenting you?"

Serqet didn't look up from her book.

"Highly unlikely."

Devotee rolled his eye again. "I thought we were past this."

Serqet flipped another page. "Mm, your face is a good reminder of certain things."

Poison heaved a heavy sigh. "I'm going to wait in the other room for the kids. I don't want to hear this." She stood up.

Devotee pouted at her.
