"So yeah, that's basically it. I hope you understand it better now," Jeongguk says, looking up at Jimin to gauge his expression.
The two are currently sat on Jeongguk's living room floor, textbooks sprawled open in front of them, preparing for a test they have the following day. Considering the two have the same major, Physics, studying together isn't an unusual occurrence.
Jimin was having problems with understanding some numericals so he asked Jeongguk to help him out.
Jimin hums pensively, twirling a pencil between his fingers, staring at the problem Jeongguk just solved, then he perks up and nods, "I get it! It was so much easier than I thought it would be," he looks at Jeongguk, "You're really smart, Guk."
Jeongguk chuckles and scratches the back of his neck, "Not really."
Jimin widens his eyes and nudges at his shoulder, "You are. Give yourself more credit."
Jeongguk just shrugs and starts cleaning up the mess they made from the snacks they'd eaten, in an attempt to hide the blush blooming on his cheeks. "Hey, you're the one at the top of the class, not me."
Jimin helps him carry the plates and mugs to the kitchen, "Well, yeah, but you're like right behind me."
Jeongguk hums, "Maybe after Junho and Minji," he replies, walking back to the living room, Jimin in tow.
Jimin gives him a disapproving look but before he can get a word in, his phone dings with a notification.
Jimin digs his phone out of his hoodie pocket, checking the text. Upon reading it he smiles, something shy, something secret.
Jimin gathers up his books in his arms and smiles at Jeongguk, "Thank you so much, Jeongguk. You're a life saver," he says as Jeongguk leads him towards the door.
"Always happy to help, hyung," Jeongguk says smiling, cheeks flushed.
They say their goodbyes and Jeongguk closes the door behind Jimin. When he hears Jimin's door open then close again after a minute, he pays it no heed.
It's currently 10:33 p.m, so Jeongguk decides to study some more before heading to work.
After a while he gets up to fetch some water. Upon checking the time, his eyes widen when he notes that it's now 12:02 a.m.
Jeongguk has never moved faster in his life.

When he reaches the station, Jeongguk isn't surprised to not find Namjoon there. It's a Thursday night, one of the slower ones, so he hopes he didn't miss any cars.
Without giving it much thought, Jeongguk heads over to the convenience store.
Over the course of the three months Jeongguk has worked at the station, him and Taehyung have become something close to best friends now. Despite only seeing each over for only a few hours of the day, or well, night.
When he enters the store, Jeongguk finds Taehyung at the counter chatting with a man, another regular who works at a call centre nearby.
Upon noticing him, Taehyung sends Jeongguk a small smile which he returns.
Jeongguk gets his usual coffee from the fridge and cracks it open. The man finally leaves and Jeongguk is heading out too before Taehyung's voice stops him, "Excuse me, sir, you have to pay for that."
With a grin Jeongguk turns around and walks up to the counter. He puts his drink down and leans against the counter with his face in his hands.
"Can't you make an exception for me?," Jeongguk asks, voice overly saccharine. He puts on what Taehyung calls his "bunny smile".
Taehyung grins at him, "No exceptions. Not even for cute bunny looking boys," he says, booping Jeongguk's nose.
The two laugh at the ridiculousness. When they calm down Taehyung asks why he's late.
"I had a friend over for a study session, he was having trouble with some stuff and asked me to help him out. After he left I went back to studying and lost track of time."
Taehyung hums in understanding. "Thought you wouldn't show up."
Jeongguk smiles, "Aw, miss me that much, hyung?," he asks teasingly.
Taehyung looks at him with an expression Jeongguk can't name. It's warm and genuine and makes a weird feeling settle in his chest.
Jeongguk expects Taehyung to say something witty in response to his jibe but what he gets instead is a warm smile, unlike the countless ones Taehyung has directed towards him before.
Then, one word. A word Jeongguk would think about for many sleepless nights to come.
"Maybe."
