“are you sure you’re going to the airport with me?” houston tried to assure calum. “i mean, it’s two hours away from here. is that alright with you?”

he grabbed her hands and looked at her deeply in the eyes. “even it takes me five hours, i’d still take you to the airport.” he really insisted.

“okay.” she sighed.

“come on, houston. we have to go.” randy called her out.

“dad, calum is going with us to the airport.” she informed randy.

“oh really?” randy turned to look at calum. “are you sure, calum?”

“yes, sir.” calum said with a nod.

“but after it, you would have to go back here. it’s two hours away. how will you be able to come back home?” randy just really wanted to make sure as much as houston did.

“i’m just gonna take the bus.” calum politely answered.

“are you sure it won’t be a hassle for you?” randy questioned once more.

“yes, sir.” calum made his decision.

“okay, then. if you insist.” randy said with a shrug as he closed the back compartment of the car after placing the luggage in there.

after bidding their sweet goodbyes to william and mildred, they finally left.

through the whole two hours of long ride to the airport, calum and houston’s hands were locked into each other. for the first hour, all they did was talking about stuffs like how much they’re going to miss one another, and the memories they had for a short period of time.

randy looked at the rear mirror and watched the two doing sweet things and he began to wonder.

“are you two dating?” randy asked the two, making them flinch and freeze for seconds. “how come i didn’t know about it?” he cleared his throat. “houston?” he trailed.

“uh-“ she mumbled but she was cut off before she can even speak.

“yes, sir. we’re dating.” calum told randy politely. “and i hope that’s okay with you, sir.” he nervously smiled.

randy raised an eye brow at first then looked at his daughter’s reflection. “as long as my daughter is happy, i’m going to be fine with it.” he stated. “just be good to my daughter, calum. she’s my only child, my only girl.”

“dad!” she whined at randy’s cheesy remark.

“don’t worry, sir. i’ll bring out the best for her.” calum replied happily.

“and just call me randy.” randy told calum.

“uhm, okay, erm, randy.” calum chuckled before bringing back his attention to houston.

houston stared at calum, looking bewildered, an eye brow raised.

“what?” calum uttered quietly.

“we aren’t even dating.” she whispered at calum.

“i know.” calum whispered back. “but it’s the right thing to say though.”

she twitched her lips before nodding. “yeah, right.” she agreed.

and through the rest of the time, houston was asleep and calum was just there, his arms wrapped around her, trying to hold back the tears as he breathed heavily. the longer she slept on his chest, the heavier she got, but that’s okay. his heart was getting heavier, too, and that’s the thing that’s never alright.
