"Kei, I love you!" you confessed loudly and Kei, panicking, looked around to see if someone heard you. He put his hand on the lower half of his face but the face he was making was already obvious. He slightly furrowed his brows and his eyes widened.
You held your hands on his jaws, "Focus on me. This is... quite embarassing for me to say in public too."
"Look, I'm sorry I didn't leave a message, I'm sorry if I made you worry but I-" you continued but he stopped you abruptly.
"It's fine, I get it, you had to unwind or something. You wouldn't ghost me, right?" he asked you and you had a hint that he had some doubts with what he said.
You put down your hands and smiled, "I can't do that."
"Yeah, exactly, I know."
"You know what your mother said, right?" you asked.
He rolled his eyes, revealing how annoyed he was with the question, or rather, the answer that came along with it.
Quite suddenly, he paused and directed his gaze on you.
"Wait, don't tell me you're br-"
"No, Kei, I wouldn't be here if you know," you told him and raised your brows, hinting that you expected him to know where you're going on about.
"Ah, you scared me for a second there," he told you as he shook his head.
"Oh I did?"
"Yeah whatever. Anyways, I still don't know what to do with mom, she's just, ah, how do I say it..."
"I'm just what?" you hear a woman's low-toned voice.
It almost sent shivers down your spine, until you turned around and saw her, smiling. Still unsure if it was sarcastic or genuine, you bowed at her.
"Oh, uh, mom, I thought you'd come home late," Kei said and sighed.
"It doesn't matter now does it? I'm here," she responded.
She walked towards the doorstep where you were and you felt even more nervous.
"Come inside, it seems we have to continue our conversation from that night."
You looked at Kei and he turned his head to the side, signaling that you really should come inside.
You nodded at her and again, without saying a word, you felt that you were being judged from head to toe. If you knew that it was going to be another meeting with his mother, you would've at least done your hair better or put some powder on.
You removed your shoes and entered the house. The three of you headed towards the living room and you looked at Kei. Despite the nerve-wrecking ambiance of the room, the sight of him put your heart completely at ease.
You sat on the living room and you fidgeted your bracelet and stared at the empty coffee table. Kei went to the kitchen, pr
"Well, Y/N, I might have been misunderstood from our last talk," she said.
"Misunderstood?" you repeated it in a soft voice.
"You see, he's my youngest and I'm just concerned."
You just nodded and looked at her.
"I don't exactly disapprove of you but-"
"I love him, Ma'am!" you proclaimed.
You could hear Kei choke on his tea in the kitchen and you feel your heart pounding. Still, you looked at his mother to express your sincerity.
She scoffed, making you nervous, then smiled.
"Ah, young love," she said while shaking her head.
You gave her a nervous smile and your best version of puppy eyes.
"Ah, how can I say no now," she exclaimed, clicking her tongue.
There was an awkward pause, probably because of your loud proclamation of your love and you were still speechless.
"Oh well, okay, then would you like to join us for dinner tomorrow?" she asked.
You noticed Kei coming in the living room and he was nodding at you, encouraging you to agree.
"Yes, I'd absolutely love to!"
