Steven closed the door behind him finally taking a breath. He slumped against the door sighing a deep sigh. "Amethyst, I got your donuts." he called. The light pitter-patter of feet soon began to echo throughout the house. "YES!!!!!!DONUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She yelled pouncing on the bag and tearing it from him. She then retreated to the safety of her room. He stood there speechless for a moment before he burst into laughter. "Oh Amethyst!" he shook his head in pity. Steven then went to the fridge and took out some chips and a soda. He then kicked off his shoes and socks and settled in for a night of watching "Younger" on Netflix. As he sat on the couch his phone rang. "Hello?" he answered. "Hey Steven!" A voice came through the line. "CONNIE??!!??" His eyes brightened. "Yep it's me you.....you didn't have to yell." he could feel her wince through the speaker. "Sorry I'm just so excited to hear you." he apologized. "Apology accepted. Soooo, what are you up to?" she enquired. "Nothing really just was gonna put on 'Younger'" he popped a chip into his mouth. "Awwww, I LOVE that show." she exclaimed through the speaker. "Me too!" Steven sat up. "What season are you watching?" her voice sounded distant. "I'm actually a little bit behind on the episodes. Wanna come over and go on a TV marathon?" he asked raising an eyebrow with a small smile on his face. "Nope I'm in traffic right about now...can you save it?" she asked. "Yeah I guess..." he trailed off, signing in defeat.
Suddenly the sounds of swerving could be heard along with someone screaming and another shouting "WHAT THE HOLY!" "Connie?" Steven asked into the microphone. "Steven....there's a......fusion.............on........the......interstate......" "Connie you're breaking up." He pleaded. "I......think......I think....I.... see....Malachite....." she stated as growls and crashing of metal could be heard. Then the line went dead. Steven stared at the phone for good few minutes until the slamming of the door shook him from his state. "Steven we have a problem." Garnet said hurrying into room, Pearl not far behind.
"I know." was his only reply....
