Gabriel's POV
After giving Chloe a genuine apology, I walk out of the room without hearing her response. I quickly walk along the corridor and down the steps.
When I reach the last step, Daniel walks toward me and asks, "What's wrong...." I walk pass him before he could even finish his sentence.
"Lieutenant!" Dan yells; I turn around to face him, standing at least five feet away from him and say, "We found two bodies: a male and a female. The male dead is unidentified, but the female is Susan Henderway."
His stern expression is instantly shifted - no longer a self-possessed exterior. I can't look at his face anymore. "The killers are gone," I say before turning around and leaving him and the team.
Within an instant, I'm out of the compound and angrily approaching the SWAT van. I take off my bulletproof vest, and toss it on the ground. I clench my fist, signaling I want to punch it, but I couldn't. I'd be destroying the team's van just so I could relieve myself of this infectious, fiery rage. I look over the road, and conveniently, I see a alley, and the plus is that there's no one there to witness any unearthly destruction, so I run over the road and enter the alley.
When I walk into the alley, I didn't waste time to cause some rampage. I quickly start with the dumpster. I punch it repeatedly until I put a hole in it, and that just made me more furious. So I throw the dumpster to the other side of the wall, and I punch a hole in the wall. I put my hand out, and I examine it. There's not a scratch on it. 'How strange,' I wonder. 'We look the same, but still so different.' I turn to the left and kick a metal bin to the wall at the back the alley. And I run over to the wall on the opposite side and I kick the dumpster that I threw over this side. I clench my fist again, going to punch this wall as well. But, someone shouts, "Stop, Gabriel!"
Fortunately, I don't flinch easily; I instamtly know that it's Mazikeen. Within an instant, I turn around to face her.
"Punching walls isn't going to help with anything," she explains.
"I know," I say sincerely. I hold my hand gently as if it were broken. "I just wanted to feel... something. And not feel like a freak."
"I get that. A little more than you might think."
I chuckle softly, then lend against the wall and let gravity drag me to the ground. Mazikeen walks up and sits down beside me. "Three times - three times he's killed people, and, for some sadistically obscure reason, it's only strike two."
"Maybe he's just trying to rattle us," Mazikeen points out.
"Yeah. I'm rattled, in a severely pissed off manner. It's bad enough I lie to Chloe every time, but not when things are starting to unfold so horrendously."
"Maybe, you need to take a...." Mazikeen tries to assure me, but I cut her off.
"I don't need a breather, Mazikeen," I utter angrily whilst getting up. "You have no idea what I need so drop it."
"Okay." I frustratedly run my hands through my hair. "Then, tell me."
Although it was audible, I say, "What?""Tell me. Elaborate for me." I'm not sure if she's eager to know or just making fun of him, unfortunately, I don't care which one it is.
"This. The killings, the lies, betrayals, everything lending up to and associated with this bullshit, for starters."
"And?" I look at her, my face still filled with anger, however my body language - discombobulated.
"And, what else? Huh?" Mazikeen gets up, faces me and adds, "What next do you want to do, Gabriel?"
"I want to make sure that the killings stop."
"And, how do you plan on doing that?"
"By catching them and locking them up."
"Do you really think that? I mean, is that what you want?"
"Wha..."
"It's a legitimate question. Is that what you really want?"
"Of course, it is."
"You're lying." And with that, she clocks me in the jaw with her right hand. While I'm not bleeding, it still hurts like hell.
"What the eff, Mazikeen?" She doesn't respond, instead she attacks again. She kicks, luckily I deflect her kick.
"Tell the truth," she says sternly.
"Wha...? I did!" And out of nowhere, she attacks yet again. She tries to kick me in the groin, but I block it. She successfully punches me in the face. It send me back a bit before I balance myself. She does her spinning kick, which I dodge. "Tell me."
"I already did!" Mazikeen continues to punch and kick me. This time without holding back. She throws her fists, but I catch them simultaneously. Then she head-butt me. I hit the wall. She strikes me with a kick to my jaw, which send me flipping over.
"I'm not an idiot." She puts her legs over my body, grabs a hold of my t-shirt to pull me up and says, "I'm a demon. I torture people, and I know you want to something other than arresting these guys." She punches me. "You want to kill them."
"No, I don't." She punches me again.
"Stop lying!" She punches me.
"Mazikeen, I'm not..." before I could even finish, she punches me again.
"Who are you trying to fool, Gabriel? Because you're not fooling me." I look at her, confused.
"No. The only one you're fooling here is yourself. Ironically, you don't even know you." With that, she throw another punch, but I catch her. I hold her by her waist and toss her off me. I get up, and she does the same.
"What." She kicks, I dodge. "Do." She punches, I deflect. "You." She kicks, block. "Want." She throws her right hook again, at the same time she throws her left fist too - a rope-a-dope. Fortunately, I catch both of them successfully.
"I want to kill them." My eyes are completely locked with Mazikeen's eyes while saying that.
"Even though it's wrong?"
"Yes."
"Even though you're an angel?"
"Yes."
"Why would you do that?"
"Because I would be ridden the world of evil, even if it's not in its purest form. I'd be helping people, preventing potential death by their hands. Cleansing the world of...." I abruptly stop myself. "Iniquities, right?" My facial expression is mild. I release Mazikeen's hands. "That was what you were going to say, right?"
"I-I didn't..." I try to explain myself, but she stops me.
"No. No need. I know. You're trying to do.the right thing, but you need to remember it's not your job to cleanse the world, Gabriel. You're supposed to be protect and serve. You need to be yourself. Don't become your father." Her words stun me - my alarm clock, telling me to wake up and remove myself from the shadow of my father. I look down at the ground, pathetically. "We should get back there. They're probably looking for us."
"Yeah. I'll be right there."
"Okay. It's very good thing these buildings are abandoned and strong enough to withstand your angelic strength." She walks away, then turns around walking backwards and adds, "You are going to fix up the damage here, right?"
I scoff lightly, she chuckles before turning around and walk normal. And a few seconds of self-examination of some deep, questionable motives, I walk behind her.
