Gabriel's POV
After explaining what the killer really wants: Chloe - she remain silent throughout the body-packing process. She's been staring at the painting intensely. Ella and the coroners arrive at the same time to body-pack the body of Julie Hathaway. Ella explains that Julie was killed the same way as the other five. Dan and Donatello try fruitlessly to get Chloe's attention, but, I can tell that she's really shaken up; I inject the fear into her. She's been standing near the wall across from us for about ten minutes, just staring at the painted writings. I'm worried about her so I decide to go over and talk to her, but, Mazikeen stops me. "Hey, Lieutenant, can I talk to you for a sec?" She whispers into my right ear, while holding my right arm back. She squeezes my arm harder, saying, "Now." She releases her hold on my arm and she walks outside the hall, I hesitantly trail behind her; she walks into the bathroom and when I enter she closes the door.
"Nicely done, Gabriel," Mazikeen compliments me, but, it sounds more sarcastic than respectful. "You really buried the lead there, telling Chloe all that."
"I didn't mean to the scare her, Mazikeen," I try to convince her about my true intention, but, she interrupts me.
"No, but, that's what you did anyway," she points out harshly. "Damn, you're just like your brother." I stop her before she could say something else.
"Don't go there, Mazikeen. Unlike Lucifer, I'm here for Chloe and I have no desire to hurt her either."
"Well, you did that well."
"Listen, I didn't leave Heaven just so I could home to Earth and be belittled by an inferior, old demon!" I snap hard at her; she jerks back a bit when I yelled her. I look at her, realizing what I'd done wrong and therefore I apologize. "I'm sorry, Mazikeen. It's just everything is so, so hard without..." I sit down on the toilet lid and I stammer. "Without..."
"Without Lucifer," she finishes my sentence. I look at her with heartfelt sadness and such hopelessness. "I'm never gonna be the man that he is. I can't replace him."
"I'm not asking you to," Mazikeen tries to convince me.
"Your action says otherwise," I point out; she silently nods and walks over to the rail of the bath tub and she sits on it.
When she finally sits, I ask, "Mazikeen, what are we doing?"
"I'm sitting on a bath tub and you're sitting on a toilet lid," she says jokingly.
"No, I mean what are we doing to each other? Like, why are we fighting? Why are we at each other's throats?" I ask her, however she doesn't respond. "I'm an angel, I was made to fight and end all wars, remain victorious. You were made to torture humans repeatedly, kill without mercy and fight my siblings. Deep within, there's an eternal hatred that's surging through us; it's very, very enticing - our own personal flaming sword, and it won't stop until we're both dead. Mazikeen, what I'm saying is, if we don't put all that... that aversion behind us, someone might end up hurt or killed. We have to stop it."
"I agree," Mazikeen says sugguestibly.
"Well, that was oddly easily," I remark on her agreement.
"Because you're right. We've been living in the past for a very long time, but, we're protecting the people that we care about. We're on the same side, now. We need to start acting like it."
"Do you want to hug?" I say jokingly. She looks at me angrily.
"Don't push it." Her words cut me, but, I shrug it off.
"Okay. Let's... let's get out of here. They need us."
