Alexa's eyes widened along with Daniel's as she saw the people sitting on the couch in their living room. "Oh! Hey mom!" Daniel said as Alexa tightened the grip on his hand, making Daniel lightly squeezing her hand back, assuring her that it was going to be fine.
"Don't hey mom me! I repeat my question, where were you and why are you with her" Keri (Dani's mom) said, her voice a weird tone when she said her. "I was on a date and if you didn't know, the her is my girlfriend" Daniel said putting quotations marks and stressing on her "WHAT?!?! AHHHHHH. THIS IS AWESOMEEEE. MY PLAN WORKEDDD" they heard Christina yell making Corbyn cover her mouth with his hand in a failed attempt to silence her, making Alexa stiffle a giggle at her friend's outburst.
"G-G-Girlfriend?" Jeff (Dani's dad; Ik his name is Jeffery but imma use Jeff) asked him, as Keri glared at the girl standing beside her youngest son. "Yes girlfriend. What are you going to do about it? Make me break up with her? Stop seeing her? Take me back to portland? Then what?? Are you going to force me to date that monster again?" Daniel said rolling his eyes, and once he reached the last sentece, his voice slightly cracked.
Alexa, seeing this, gently pulled her hand out of Daniel's grasp, instead pulling him in a hug as he started crying into her shoulder. "Hey..Hey it's ok. Just like you said, we'll get through this together. I don't know who that monster is, but if I ever find out, shes going to get smacked by me, and then you know what baby?" Alexa spoke making Daniel ask a muffled "W-What?"
"I'm going to thank her. You know why? I'm going to thank her because if not for her, I wouldn't have you today" Alexa smiled making Daniel's parents' jaw drop at what she said. "I love you" breathed Daniel as he pulled away, making Alexa return the smile as she wiped his tears with the pad of her thumb. "I love you too. And I'll wait until you wanna tell me what happened, ok? Now talk to them while I go set up a spare room for all of them to sleep in." Alexa smiled and as she passed his parents and his siblings, stopping to say something.
"I'm sorry. I know that you think I might be like my parents but I'm nothing like my dad" Alexa smiled softly as she started walking again. "Stop." Said a voice from behind her. "I know you might be nothing like your dad. But you....you look just like Athena. Your eyes. Your hair is slightly more brown than her's but you literally look like a carbon copy of her." Keri whispered, her eyes rapidly tearing up as Jeff hugged her, gently soothing her.
"Who was my mom to you?" Alexa whispered, the mood rapidly changing as tears threatening to spill from her eyes and Daniel walked forward, wrapping her in his arms while the rest stood behind them, a puzzled expression on their faces as to why both Daniel's parents had tears in their eyes.
"Athena....Athena was my best friend. She...was the the best human alive on the earth. Finding the best in everyone. She completely saw through them, their physical features and focused on their inner beauty. She was so positive, and she was so cheerful. She could brighten a room just by walking into it. She was the sole reason that me and Jeff are here today, her having slapped Jeff into asking me out" Keri chuckled at the end wiping tears.
"One day, she got asked out by Gavin. That time, Gavin used to harrass me, but I never told her because of the little crush she had. Everytime she started talking about him, she almost persuaded me that he was actually a good guy. One day, he asked her out, they started dating and boom. At their wedding, G-Gavin told me...he told me he wanted me but got my bestie instead....and thats the last I saw her. I stayed in Portland and she moved to New York." Keri sobbed and now Alexa also had tears running down her face. On a quick decisive note, she ran and hugged Keri, both females hugging each other making everyone else slightly smile.
"I didn't know that part of the story... and also, my hair is actually blonde. I prefer to dye it brown." Alexa smiled. "Oh! Then you have Athena's eyes and Gavin's hair....What about your brother?" Keri asked making Alexa's lip slightly tremble as she answered "He...He died. He had brown hair and hazel eyes. Also...Keri? Did you know a Kimberly in highschool?" "Oh..her! She was the mean girl of our grade. A bit....slutty and extremely mean" said Keri making everyone giggle when she said slutty.
"Well! I need to set up your room and make food. You can relax until then" smiled Alexa, but got stopped by Keri saying that she would cook instead and they already got a hotel room.
In the 15 minutes of Keri cooking, everyone got to know each other, becoming good friends instantly. Dinner that night was was an enjoyable time and everyone was happy without any trouble for the first time....until Keri said something that made Daniel yell "Noooo"
"Daniel?" Keri asked nervously. "Daniel, your cousin is going to move to L.A and she needs a place to live. Could she stay here? She was devestated after your Aunt Mary died...." Daniel's mother trailed off, which was the reason the whole neighbourhood heard a shout of "NO!"
