Journey with You
He frowned when I picked up the plastic bag with the other can of beer inside. “Umuulan pa, oh. Hindi naman ako manggugulo, promise. I really followed you here to apologize.”
"And you already did. Ano pang dapat pag-usapan?!”
“Nananahimik na kaya ako dito. Can't you just stay?”
“At bakit naman ako mag-iistay?!”
“Umuulan pa nga. Hindi rin ako makalipat sa kabila. Those two won't stop and leave any time soon if it's raining this hard. If anything, baka mas lalo pa nga silang mag-init doon."
“Yuck!” I exclaimed, squirming in disgust.
“Kung maka-yuck naman ito…” His brows met. “Isn't it normal for couples to be intimate?”
“Maybe,” sagot ko. “But in a public place? That's just... insensitive.”
"Wala namang nakakakita sa kanila."
"Ano'ng tawag mo sakin? Talahib? Ayan oh, kitang kita ko sila!"
"It's just you. One audience is not too much of an issue." He replied. "Alam mo, napaghahalataan kang NBSB."
“Utot mo NBSB.”
"Pikon nito."
Inirapan ko siya, tapos uminom ng beer.
“Ang aga aga, umiinom ka. Pang-ilang lata mo na 'yan? Ba't di ka mamigay?" Aniya.
"Why give it for free when I can sell it to you? Mukhang mayaman ka naman." Pinasadahan ko siya ng tingin mula ulo hanggang paa. Tapos balik sa mata. Damn. What a pair.
"Hindi ka lang pala pikon, oportunista ka rin. That's a dangerous combination." Aniya.
"Hindi ako pikon, ano! At hindi ako oportunista. This is called the bargaining power of suppliers. Kung mataas ang demand at ako lang ang makaka-supply nito, why not sell it for a higher price, right?"
“That’s selfish.”
“Only if I’m forcing you to buy it. Pinilit ba kita? Besides, beer is not a basic need. It’s a want. You want it? Buy it on my terms.”
"Business graduate din ako pero bakit hindi ako ganiyan ka twisted?"
“Excuse me. You got both things wrong. One, I’m not being twisted. Two, I’m not a business graduate."
"Weh?" He squinted his eyes at me.
“Pag ba high school graduate, walang karapatang malaman ang workings ng marketing at economics? Nakaka-offend ka, ha.”
"Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that.” He was quick to apologize. "I like that you're witty. You sound like a professional, so I was kinda hoping na hindi ka committed sa ibang company. Hiring kasi kami ngayon."
"Talaga? Hindi ako na-inform na may open recruitment din pala sa mga sindikato?" I gave him a wicked smirk. "May behavioral test din ba diyan? Baka bumagsak ako ah, di kasi ako psycho gaya ng kapatid mo."
That made him frown. Did I go a little too far? Below the belt na ba 'yon?
"Want some?" I offered him a can of beer to test him but he just looked away. Aba! Na-offend nga.
"Tumatanggi pa sa grasya." I murmured as I placed the can back into the plastic bag.
