"Joke lang, wala 'yun." I forced a smile. "So, busy ka hanggang mamaya?"

"Do you have something urgent to say?" He asked. "I have an hour."

An hour? Teka, medyo na-pressure ako at kinabahan. Ano nga kasi ulit ang plano ko? Wala? Right. Wala akong matinong plano. I have an end goal, but I don't know the steps to get there. Crap! I need to buy time.

"I have something to give you," sabi ko. "Dun tayo sa may buhangin."

We went away from the water and to the shore, facing the beach.

Kinuha ko sa bulsa ko ang regalo ko para sa kaniya. "Here."

He looked at the thing I was handing over to him and then looked at me. "For me?"

"Hindi mo ba nagustuhan?" I frowned. Tuwang tuwa pa ako nung pinipili ko ito. Pinahinto ko pa yung sasakyan kanina para bumili niyan kasi ayaw ko namang dumating na emptyhanded. Tapos mukhang hindi naman na-appreciate.

"Nagustuhan ko. It's just that... unang beses kong makatanggap ng regalo sa ganitong okasyon. Thank you..." He commented as he received it. "Ano nga kasi ang tawag dito?" He asked, staring at the thing in his hand. It looked tiny in contrast to his big and manly hands.

"It's a dreamcatcher. It filters and catches your bad dreams so you can only get good ones." I explained. "Cake sana eh, kaso this seems more fitting. Hindi occasion-sensitive."

"I'll make sure to bring this anywhere I go. Thank you ulit," he smiled warmly. "But what is this for, exactly?"

"Actually, for all three occasions." Pagtatapat ko.

"So you know it's my birthday?" He frowned. "Bakit hindi mo ako binati agad?"

"Bakit hindi mo ako inimbita?" I countered. "Quits lang ha. Hinintay ko ang tawag mo pero hindi dumating kaya napasugod na ako dito."

White lies...

"I didn't want to bother you." He replied. Bother me?

"Talaga ba? Are you sure it's not because you don't want me here?"

"I want you here, Han. Maniwala ka. But I might be too difficult to handle during this time of the year. Ayaw ko lang na magdala ng inconvenience sa mga taong nasa paligid ko."

"Nag-assume ka na agad na inconvenience ka para sa akin? Sana tinanong mo muna ako, diba? Saka bakit ka ngumingisi?!"

He must have lost his mind. He's smirking like a smitten highschool boy while I'm venting my frustrations here.

"Namiss ko ang pagsusungit mo." Aniya.

"I don't think so."

Kinuha niya ang kamay ko at itinapat sa dibdib niya, just above his heart. Kasing lakas ito ng tibok ng puso ko kanina. Pero bakit?

"See?" Aniya pa. "I missed you."

Weh? Pano kung napasobra lang siya sa kape?

"Happy birthday to you~" a group of people sang in chorus, interrupting the scene. Binawi ko ang kamay ko. "Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you~!"

"Surprise, dude!!!" Treble exclaimed. "Aren't we so thoughtful? Come on, blow your candle."

Nice. Very nice timing.

"You didn't have to make a fuss but thanks," saad ni Sven sa mga kaibigan.

"Malapit ka na kasing mawala sa kalendaryo eh." Sagot ni Treble at saka napatingin sa akin. "Hi, Hani! Kumusta? This is Denzel, my wife."
