I open the door, immediately turn to my left to put the keys on the hook. I look forward and see a hand written letter on the table. No...no not again. I reach for my phone but it's gone. I look down and see a large body of water, as if I am standing high up above it. I gasp and quickly look back up. A white sheet being placed over a body and my...parents. They were standing above the body crying and holding each other.
It can't be her.
I walk towards them and instantly both their heads shoot up. My father speaks in a familiar demonic voice.
"It will soon consume you too."
I step back and stumble as there is no more floor and I fall back, falling a very far distance down. I could see the water beneath me slowly getting closer and in seconds I'm about to fall in.
Like every typical morning for me, I wake up gasping for air from the bed. I look around and see that Cat is gone and suddenly my newly relaxed self begins to panic again. I reach over for my phone and see a text from her.
Please don't freak out, I just needed some fresh air so I'm going to get breakfast for us down the street. Love you ❤️
Once again, I exhale loudly, calming myself.
God CJ, you need to get out of your head, she is fine by herself.
I get a call from Jasmine.
"Good morning beautiful, am I allowed to come see you?" She speaks through the phone.
"You're always welcome to come see me."
"Okay I'm coming in then" I heard her chuckle.
"Damn that was fast, I'll open the door."
I hung up, threw on some pyjama shorts with my big t-shirt already on. Gathering my long hair up into a messy bun, I open the door. There she stood, food in hand.
"Wow I'll never get used to how gorgeous you look all sleepy." She gushed, a look of awe on her face.
I blushed as she pulled me into her chest, kissing the top of my head.
"Oh and this is from Cat, she wanted me to tell you that she met up with a friend on her way here so she'll be back in a couple of hours." Jas said handing me the bag of food.
I sighed nervously, looking away as the worst case scenarios all played in my mind.
"CJ." Jasmine said holding my chin up so I would meet her eyes.
"This isn't healthy for you. You need to trust your sister and have faith that everything you two have worked on for her mental health is working. She needs personal space too."
I nod as I replay Jas' words in my head. 'Trust your sister.' She's right, Cat needs her space and I need to let go of this to move forward.
"You're right, I'm sorry. I'm really gonna try to stop worrying."
"It's obviously easier said than done, I know, but I'm glad you want to make the effort." She replied rubbing my arms.
The she continued, "it's so nice outside why don't we go for a walk after we eat?"
I nodded excitedly as it's been quite some time since I've spent alone time with Jasmine or went out for some fresh air.
We talked and laughed a lot as we usually do, enjoying some time being just our normal selves again.
"You know, sometimes I think...how did my dumb ass end up with someone so smart and pretty like you." Jasmine said as we strolled past people leisurely walking under the golden sun.
