I feel like I'm in a movie in the middle of a car chase.
It was pretty late, around 1am at this point, so traffic wasn't congested like usual. The advantage of a motorcycle is being able to swerve through cars, which Jasmine took advantage of. We drove pretty far into the usually busy streets in the Manhattan area. With the cars still close on our trail, we reached a spot with a pretty significant amount of traffic, enough to lose them. Jas swerved through the cars and made a right turn while the light was red. The car had no choice but to stop behind a bunch of halted cars. She sped up even more and took many different turns to make sure we lost them for good. When deemed safe enough, we didn't need to drive too much farther to reach Jasmine's apartment.
"Here's the key babe. It's apartment 203, make yourself at home. I'm gonna go park the bike farther away so they don't know where we are." Jas let out in a haste.
"Okay. Please be safe." I said holding her hand for a moment.
"I will baby. Go, quickly." She instructed me.
I looked around to make sure no one would follow me. When I saw that it was clear, I quickly went inside the building and up the stairs. I walk down the hall until I finally reach 203. When I unlocked the door I was met with a gorgeous open concept space that had a kind of rustic feel to it. Though many boxes were still scattered all over the place. It was very spacious for a typical New York City apartment.
I felt uneasy about tonight and what I just experienced, so it was hard to relax. I pulled out my phone to text Cat that I would be staying at Jasmine's apartment. Just as I hit send there was a knock on the door. I jumped. I walked over cautiously to the door and looked through the peep hole. When I see my beautiful girlfriend's face, I knew it was safe to open.
"What the hell just happened?" Was the first thing I said to her as she walked in.
"I don't know but I think those two cars were trying to figure out where you live and get information on you, or us." She replied.
"Why though?"
She looked down biting her lip anxiously.
"The gang probably wants something to use against me."
"That's comforting. They really do take care of you huh, Jas." I didn't mean for my comment to come out sarcastically, but I was frustrated at the danger she is putting herself and I in.
I let out a huff and walked away from her.
"CJ, I'm sorry I didn't mean for any of this-"
"Yeah I'm sure you didn't." I cut her off. "But it happened. It's happening. Even though we lead them away from my apartment, they had an idea of where I would be!" I exclaimed.
She looked away from me ashamed.
"Look, it's late, I'm tired and I'm not going through this again. I just hope you're not going to make me regret staying."
"You won't. Like I said, I am going to make things better." She replied, holding my hands in hers, desperately trying to meet my gaze that I held away from her.
I finally looked into those hypnotizing blue eyes of hers. God, it still makes my heart skip a beat.
"I'm going to sleep on the couch." I said looking towards her plush looking sofa.
"No, take the bed, I'll sleep on the couch." She retorted, kissing my forehead and going into her room.
I walked into the room as well. Her bed was different, it was a larger, queen sized bed. Clean white bed sheets with a white quilted duvet. A dark gray sort of colour on the walls. The room is still missing the little touches of Jasmine's personality. Again, there were still many boxes all over her room.
